Mathew 28:19-20

2. Great Commission
Jesus calls us in the Great Commission to make
disciples of all nations and baptize them, but he
doesn’t call us to make believers. Indeed, it is not
even in our power to do so. This (maybe ironically)
should be a great relief to many of us. Our role as
witnesses is simply to tell a story. God is the one in
the heart-changing business.

3. Mathew 28:19-20
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything that I have commanded you. And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of the
age”.

5. The Holy Spirit’s Evangelism Work
In evangelism, the Holy Spirit works
in two main ways:
1. To empower us as witnesses and
2. To use the gospel to bring about belief.

6. 1. To empower us as witnesses
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on
you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

teach you at that time what you should say.

9. Acts 4:8-12
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them:

being asked how he was healed,

is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom
you crucified but whom God raised from the dead,
that this man stands before you healed.

has become the cornerstone.’
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no
other name under heaven given to mankind by which
we must be saved.”

as I ought to speak.

18. 2. To use the gospel to bring
about belief
Romans 5:5
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s
love has been poured out into our hearts through the
Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

20. Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone who
believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not
simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit
and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for
your sake.
