No airplane can take off without a flight plan….
No ship can sail without a plotted course…..
….no household/family should contemplate a successful financial journey without some kind of financial, investment and estate strategy!
At the human level-at the level of you as the family talking to me as the financial advisor- Building a successful strategy is almost always less complicated and easier to do than people think!
Where do we start? We start by assessing where you are: What you own… What you owe… What you earn… What your expenses are…
We are simply collecting baseline data: So we can understand the very first thing that we should know in any journey….. …exactly where you are starting from!
From there we create a wish list…. ….of what you would like  to accomplish financially, for yourself and for the people you care about.
This turns out to be pretty straightforward, because it usually focuses on a few very important issues. When and how do I want to retire? What are you going to do for your parents as they grow older? What will you want to provide for you children or grandchildren toward their education? What is your philosophy about legacies for your heirs or for a favorite cause or charity? Would you like to be in a position to be able to do these things?
We then get out the calculator, and see if we can turn those hopes and dreams into concrete financial goals!   What will the things you want to do cost, and when? What’s the gap between where you are and where you want to be, and how much time have we got to close the gap? Can you put away enough money, and can that money earn a sufficient return, to close that gap in the time allotted? Can we get there?
If we find that we can…. …then you’ve already got the foundation and the framework of a successful financial strategy.
If we find out that we can’t fund all of your dreams in the time that we’ve got… …then we will have to consider tradeoffs!
Along the way, as the plan takes form, we’ll want to insure its outcome against the risk that you won’t be around-or won’t be physically able to complete it. A plan that’s unsinkable unless it hits an iceberg isn’t really unsinkable. And it really isn’t a plan!
It is more in the nature of a bet…. …and prudent people don’t bet on the financial fate of their families and loved ones!
At this point, I’ll work up an investment strategy that has some history of producing the kind of long-term returns that we’ve calculated that will be needed to meet your objective and risk tolerance….
This is where we bring in the other advisors…. Your Accountant Attorney Trust officers at your bank P & C agent My List of accountants List of attorneys Specialists Financial Experts Or Both They will help us work out all the technical end: Wills, Trusts, etc.
I promise you that I won’t deliver a financial strategy that’s less that what you want to accomplish your goals. We will fine tune it until it is right!
Then it just becomes a question of giving your strategy enough time , enough money and enough faith …. We’ll update this strategy at least annually-more often if your circumstances change or if the tax laws change. We’ll try to avoid tinkering with it, micromanage it or change it for the sake of changing it.
At this this point most people ask me if I charge for my services….  At the present time I do not charge for my services  but I am compensated in two ways: If, as the result of our work together, you decide to purchase  some of the financial products or services  suggested by my firm,   I simply ask that you obtain them through me.   2. If you feel that the work that I have done for you was done in a professional  manner  and  would be beneficial to people that you know, I simply ask that you recommend me to other people like yourself.
