Sevens rugby is a variation of rugby union that is played with 7 players on each team and 14 players on the field at a time. [1] Sevens rugby originated in Melrose, Scotland in 1883 and games last 14 minutes. [2] There are 7 positions - 1 prop, 2 hookers, and 4 backs consisting of a scrum half, fly half, center/winger, and winger. [3] The 2012 New Zealand sevens tournament team consisted of Toby Arnold, Tomasi Cama, DJ Forbes, and others coached by Gordan Tietjens.
