COUNTERFEITS OF
THE HEART
“The heart is deceitful above all things.” (Jeremiah 17:9)

T rue stories about deceit and deception can sound stranger than fiction. According
to an AP news item, a Georgia woman was arrested after trying to pay for more
than $1,500 in purchases with a million-dollar counterfeit bill. When questioned, the
embarrassed patron claimed to have been misled, saying that the fake money had been
given to her by her ex-husband, who was a coin collector.
The size of the bill makes us question whether anyone could really have been misled
into thinking it was real. But maybe that makes it a good illustration of the almost
unbelievable problem of self-deception that the prophet warns us about. When Jeremiah
said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
(17:9 esv), he expresses a sense of amazement that is beyond our ability to grasp. Here

the prophet is not saying that some of us have a problem being honest with ourselves; he
is claiming that everyone does.
Thankfully, God searches our hearts and understands what we cannot see (v.10). He
gives us every reason to say, “Lord, we need Your help. Please show us whether we are
being honest with ourselves and You. If we aren’t, help us to change and rely on You
rather than on ourselves.”

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.
The only way to survive in a world of deception is
by trusting the One who will never deceive us.

To begin our prayer time together, we ask you to repeat this prayer with us each day...
“O gracious and heavenly Father, in name of Jesus Christ I pray for Pastor Jim and Rajiv
and every member of their families and the entire staff of Global Harvest Church and Well
Fortified Intercessors Army and their families. Lord keeps them safe from all the evil
powers and no harm should come to them and every one who are working in the ministry.
Lord Jesus guides each step and shows the right path on which they will take. Dear Father
God you have called them to do your will. Protect them and guide them in whatever they
do. I pray shower your blessings on them so that they will be able to fulfill the work of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Father God give them strength and power and health. My heavenly
Father keeps them away from all kinds of dangers and gives them shelter under your
wings. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command a hedge of protection to be around
their home and property today and I ask that warrior angels sent by the you true Father
God would be placed to stand guard at any holes that might be in that hedge. I place the
full armors of God on them, and I ask that the light of the Lord Jesus shine through them
this day. In the name of Jesus I ask-Amen”

Pray specifically today for people you know who need to know the saving and
healing power of Jesus Christ in their lives. Many people are suffering – spiritually,
emotionally, and physically – let us stand before our Mighty God today on their
behalf!

“Heavenly Father I pray the blood of Jesus over all the partners and supporters of
Global Harvest Church and Well Fortified Intercessors Army as a covering and
hedge of protection against the wiles of the enemy and I pray for your blessing and
favor to be upon them. I ask in Jesus name that you Father God would supply
streams of resources so that Pastor Jim and Rajiv will be able to accomplish all that
you have called them to do.”

Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body,
and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling… (Ephesians 4:3-4)
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)
In the name of Jesus and in agreement with the Word, I command sickness to go. I
command disease and bondage to go in Jesus mighty name. Father, by the power of the
Holy Spirit, I pray that the anointing for healing will be released right now in Jesus’ name
and that from this moment on healing, restoration and health will come to these peoples
listed above. This I pray in Jesus wonderful and glorious name. Amen.

'A drop in the bucket' is the predecessor of 'a drop in the ocean',
which means the same thing.
