In recent years, psychological well-being has been critical element in a students’ life. This study has investigated the effect of religious faith on psychological well-being and self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. Quantitative approaches of survey design were used for this study. A number of ninety four secondary school students comprised from form four, and form five were selected using purposive sampling methods as studied subjects. The modified version of Santa Clara Strength of Religious Faith Questionnaire (SCSRFQ), Psychological Well Being Inventory (The Ryff Scale) and Self-efficacy for Self-regulated Learning Scale were administered in this study. The finding of linear regression indicated that religious faith is a significant predictor of psychological well-being and self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. The finding also revealed that psychological well-being is a significant predictor of self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. As a conclusion, study disclosed that psychological well-being intensely related to an individual religious faith and proven to lead positive attitude among students in realize their own capability.

Summary—Research on violent television and films, video
games, and music reveals unequivocal evidence that media vio-
lence increases the likelihood of aggressive and violent behav-
ior in both immediate and long-term contexts. The effects
appear larger for milder than for more severe forms of aggres-
sion, but the effects on severe forms of violence are also sub-
stantial (

.13 to .32) when compared with effects of other
violence risk factors or medical effects deemed important by
the medical community (e.g., effect of aspirin on heart attacks).
The research base is large; diverse in methods, samples, and
media genres; and consistent in overall findings. The evidence
is clearest within the most extensively researched domain, tele-
vision and film violence. The growing body of video-game re-
search yields essentially the same conclusions.
Short-term exposure increases the likelihood of physically
and verbally aggressive behavior, aggressive thoughts, and
aggressive emotions. Recent large-scale longitudinal studies
provide converging evidence linking frequent exposure to vio-
lent media in childhood with aggression later in life, includ-
ing physical assaults and spouse abuse. Because extremely
violent criminal behaviors (e.g., forcible rape, aggravated as-
sault, homicide) are rare, new longitudinal studies with
larger samples are needed to estimate accurately how much
habitual childhood exposure to media violence increases the
risk for extreme violence.
Well-supported theory delineates why and when exposure
to media violence increases aggression and violence. Media
violence produces short-term increases by priming existing
aggressive scripts and cognitions, increasing physiological
arousal, and triggering an automatic tendency to imitate ob-
served behaviors. Media violence produces long-term effects
via several types of learning processes leading to the acquisi-
tion of lasting (and automatically accessible) aggressive
scripts, interpretational schemas, and aggression-supporting
beliefs about social behavior, and by reducing individuals’

The study examined how religious beliefs can influence false memories of fabricated events. 595 undergraduate students completed questionnaires about their religious beliefs and were shown images of events that either depicted religion positively/negatively or atheism positively/negatively. Results showed that religious participants were more likely to falsely remember positive religious events and negative atheist events compared to non-religious participants. Specifically, religious events were more likely to be falsely remembered if participants felt positively about them, while negative atheist events were more likely to be falsely remembered if participants were religious and felt negatively about atheism. This suggests preexisting religious beliefs can bias memory formation.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the potential risk and protective parental factors
associated with depression among African American youth living in
public housing. Utilizing a community-based participatory research
approach, 239 African-American youth surveys were collected during
2013–2014 in two urban public housing developments with low
socioeconomic profiles. Over half (52.3%) of the sample was in high
school and female (58%). 65.3% reported living with their mother
while 38% reported being employed. Bivariate analysis revealed sig-
nificant correlations between depression and maternal substance
abuse, paternal monitoring, parent-child relationship, and family
time. Results from the regression analyses indicated that higher
depression scores were significantly associated with youth who
reported poor parent-child relationships, low levels of paternal super-
vision and high levels of maternal drug abuse. These findings provide
support for claims about the importance of parent-child relationship
and paternal monitoring as a protective factor for depressive symp-
toms, particularly during adolescence. Moreover, findings suggest
that interventions which are targeted towards urban African
American youth should address parental factors as a pathway to
decrease depression among this population.

Introduction
Depression among African Americans youth is a major public health concern that has
been linked to substance use, heightened sex-risk and suicidal behaviors (i.e., ideation and
attempts) (Breland-Noble, Burriss, & Poole, 2010; Okwumabua, Okwumabua, & Wong,
2014). Although there has been a slight increase in focus on depression among African
American youth over the last decade, this group remains understudied in mental health
research (Matlin, Molock, & Tebes, 2011). Evidence suggests that parents and family play
a critical role in the lives of their adolescent and emerging adult children (Lindsey, Joe, &
Nebbitt, 2010). It is reasonable to postulate, therefore, that parental factors are related to
the emotional well-being of urban African American youth. Using a sample of 239 African
American youth living in urban public housing, this paper contributes to the gap in

This document summarizes the findings of a large-scale survey on political polarization in America. It identifies seven "hidden tribes" with distinct core beliefs that predict views more accurately than demographics. The tribes range from Progressive Activists to Devoted Conservatives. While the wings disagree strongly, the Exhausted Majority in the middle is fatigued by division and more ideologically flexible. This segmentation provides insights into polarization's roots in divergent worldviews rather than just partisan differences.

One in five American adults are religiously unaffiliated, the highest percentage ever. The religiously unaffiliated are growing faster than any other group due to generational replacement. While most of the unaffiliated believe in God and consider themselves spiritual, they are less religiously committed than the public overall based on measures like attendance and importance of religion. However, many unaffiliated think religious institutions benefit society. The unaffiliated are an increasingly important voting bloc and tend to affiliate with the Democratic Party.
Religion on Psychological Well-Being and Self-Efficacy among Secondary School...
In recent years, psychological well-being has been critical element in a students’ life. This study has investigated the effect of religious faith on psychological well-being and self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. Quantitative approaches of survey design were used for this study. A number of ninety four secondary school students comprised from form four, and form five were selected using purposive sampling methods as studied subjects. The modified version of Santa Clara Strength of Religious Faith Questionnaire (SCSRFQ), Psychological Well Being Inventory (The Ryff Scale) and Self-efficacy for Self-regulated Learning Scale were administered in this study. The finding of linear regression indicated that religious faith is a significant predictor of psychological well-being and self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. The finding also revealed that psychological well-being is a significant predictor of self-efficacy among secondary school students in Kulim district of Kedah. As a conclusion, study disclosed that psychological well-being intensely related to an individual religious faith and proven to lead positive attitude among students in realize their own capability.

Summary—Research on violent television and films, video
games, and music reveals unequivocal evidence that media vio-
lence increases the likelihood of aggressive and violent behav-
ior in both immediate and long-term contexts. The effects
appear larger for milder than for more severe forms of aggres-
sion, but the effects on severe forms of violence are also sub-
stantial (

.13 to .32) when compared with effects of other
violence risk factors or medical effects deemed important by
the medical community (e.g., effect of aspirin on heart attacks).
The research base is large; diverse in methods, samples, and
media genres; and consistent in overall findings. The evidence
is clearest within the most extensively researched domain, tele-
vision and film violence. The growing body of video-game re-
search yields essentially the same conclusions.
Short-term exposure increases the likelihood of physically
and verbally aggressive behavior, aggressive thoughts, and
aggressive emotions. Recent large-scale longitudinal studies
provide converging evidence linking frequent exposure to vio-
lent media in childhood with aggression later in life, includ-
ing physical assaults and spouse abuse. Because extremely
violent criminal behaviors (e.g., forcible rape, aggravated as-
sault, homicide) are rare, new longitudinal studies with
larger samples are needed to estimate accurately how much
habitual childhood exposure to media violence increases the
risk for extreme violence.
Well-supported theory delineates why and when exposure
to media violence increases aggression and violence. Media
violence produces short-term increases by priming existing
aggressive scripts and cognitions, increasing physiological
arousal, and triggering an automatic tendency to imitate ob-
served behaviors. Media violence produces long-term effects
via several types of learning processes leading to the acquisi-
tion of lasting (and automatically accessible) aggressive
scripts, interpretational schemas, and aggression-supporting
beliefs about social behavior, and by reducing individuals’

The study examined how religious beliefs can influence false memories of fabricated events. 595 undergraduate students completed questionnaires about their religious beliefs and were shown images of events that either depicted religion positively/negatively or atheism positively/negatively. Results showed that religious participants were more likely to falsely remember positive religious events and negative atheist events compared to non-religious participants. Specifically, religious events were more likely to be falsely remembered if participants felt positively about them, while negative atheist events were more likely to be falsely remembered if participants were religious and felt negatively about atheism. This suggests preexisting religious beliefs can bias memory formation.

This document discusses how the increasing identification of organized religion with conservative politics has alienated many young adults in recent decades. As religious groups emphasized issues like abortion and same-sex marriage, it drove away more moderate and progressive youth who saw religion becoming intolerant and judgmental. The result has been a significant rise in the number of young people claiming no religious affiliation as they reject faiths that are too closely aligned with a single political ideology.

Parents, grandparents, and siblings were reported to have positively influenced African American adults' religious commitment and values, on average. However, mothers were reported to have the greatest positive influence on these outcomes. The influences of family members differed based on the generation and gender of the family member. Religious commitment and values were differentially associated with family members depending on these factors. The study aimed to explore how family members influence African American adults' perceptions of the importance of religion in their lives, their religious and spiritual identities, and their views on religious socialization of children.
Political Orientation and Church Attendance
As the capstone project in my Statistical Research and Design course, I utilized SQL and SPSS to query the databases of the U.S. Census Bureau and American National Election Studies to perform

ABSTRACT
This study examined the potential risk and protective parental factors
associated with depression among African American youth living in
public housing. Utilizing a community-based participatory research
approach, 239 African-American youth surveys were collected during
2013–2014 in two urban public housing developments with low
socioeconomic profiles. Over half (52.3%) of the sample was in high
school and female (58%). 65.3% reported living with their mother
while 38% reported being employed. Bivariate analysis revealed sig-
nificant correlations between depression and maternal substance
abuse, paternal monitoring, parent-child relationship, and family
time. Results from the regression analyses indicated that higher
depression scores were significantly associated with youth who
reported poor parent-child relationships, low levels of paternal super-
vision and high levels of maternal drug abuse. These findings provide
support for claims about the importance of parent-child relationship
and paternal monitoring as a protective factor for depressive symp-
toms, particularly during adolescence. Moreover, findings suggest
that interventions which are targeted towards urban African
American youth should address parental factors as a pathway to
decrease depression among this population.

Introduction
Depression among African Americans youth is a major public health concern that has
been linked to substance use, heightened sex-risk and suicidal behaviors (i.e., ideation and
attempts) (Breland-Noble, Burriss, & Poole, 2010; Okwumabua, Okwumabua, & Wong,
2014). Although there has been a slight increase in focus on depression among African
American youth over the last decade, this group remains understudied in mental health
research (Matlin, Molock, & Tebes, 2011). Evidence suggests that parents and family play
a critical role in the lives of their adolescent and emerging adult children (Lindsey, Joe, &
Nebbitt, 2010). It is reasonable to postulate, therefore, that parental factors are related to
the emotional well-being of urban African American youth. Using a sample of 239 African
American youth living in urban public housing, this paper contributes to the gap in

- 2. The hypotheses that have been previously proposed are : How does religiosity negatively affect aggression in native-born and foreign-born residents of the United States? What are the negative effects of religiosity on the education and intelligence of United States? What is the correlation between levels of aggression and intelligence levels in pious believers?

Examining U.S. Society What Research Provides The purpose of this review paper is to analyze the negative effects of religiosity on the psychology of people living in a modern, developed country, such as the United States. The International Social Survey Program (ISSP) included various comparisons of the U.S. along with other progressive, modern nations – such as Sweden, Japan, Denmark, France, Germany, Gre at Britain, and Norway (Paul, 2009). In order to explore such questions and other issues related to religiosity, various studies have drawn out comparisons between the U.S. and other developed nations in relation to how religiosity affects various aspects of life within what is supposed to be a modern, progressive nation. The factors, again, are aggression and education/intelligence.
- 7. Further development of such a study can be accomplished by asking questions that would compare the U.S. to other extremely religious nations that differ in the commanding religion. More specifically, take for instance, a question comparing the effects of Christianity on American society to the effects of the Muslim religion on Iranian society.
