This document summarizes a webquest for 2nd grade students about exploring the deep blue sea. Students are divided into crews and tasked with researching facts about the ocean and its inhabitants using the internet and Microsoft PowerPoint. They record findings in journals and create a fact book presentation. The class votes on the most outrageous facts and best pictures. The winning crew receives a treasure chest to share among the class. The webquest aims to teach students about the ocean while building skills in writing, reading, recording, oral presentation, science, creativity and technology use.

Did you know that of the 350 species of the 80% of them grow less than 1.6 cm and are unable to hurt people. What other interesting unknown facts do you and your crew think you can find out about the ocean and its inhabitants? Your goal is to map out your journey through the ocean and all the interesting things you see. The crew that finds the most facts wins the treasure chest!

This includes both living and non living things. You will use the internet to do research. In order to remember all of the interesting facts that you find, you will record your findings in your journal. From your journal you will create a fact book slide showing using Microsoft PowerPoint that you can share with the rest of the class. Title

Each student will be assigned a role Navigator – the person who will guide the fact finding The recorder – the person who will keep track of all the interesting facts The picture taker – the person who will collect as many pictures of the interesting species found as possible You will begin your journey by swimming through the world wide web to find as much cool stuff about the ocean and the things in the ocean as possible The recorder should use their journal to keep track of the facts found Next, you will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a fact book. Be sure to include pictures of your findings. Present your slide show to the class As a class we will vote on the most outrageous facts and the best pictures That team wins the treasure chest! The winning team will divide their treasure with the rest of the class in a way that seems fair 
