Die kunnen iets wat weinig anderen kunnen.

Op deze locaal opererende beroepen is globalisering wel van invloed (denk aan Hawaï-broodjes bij de bakker, en dokters die in grote steden patiënten krijgen die geen Nederlands spreken) maar hun werk kan slechts voor een klein deel worden ge-outsourced. In de toekomst zal de gewone huisarts misschien ook zijn administratie of röntgenonderzoek elders laten verrichten. Het lijkt erop dat de locale service-economie altijd nodig zal blijven en ook zal groeien naarmate de economie groeit. Maar de Poolse bouwvakkers bewijzen dat ook buitenlandse werknemers op dit marktsegment populair kunnen worden.
