Taaniko Nordstrom and Linzee West-Hayward are presenting workshops for girls on Sunday, June 24th. The workshops include Dream Diva, Savvy Stylist, Missy Music, School Hottie, Cosmo Chick, and Culture Queen. Each workshop is 3 hours and will help participants build skills and confidence in areas like goal setting, body image, relationships, career planning, health & safety, and cultural identity.

aim high and reach for the stars!

• know how to create a visual road map or dream board as a
daily reminder that goals can be achievable
• become familiar with two goals and four action plans to help
achieve those goals

6. mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest one of all? you
are, of course. savvy stylist will explore body image,
dressing to impress and a mini makeover
by the end of this workshop each participant will
understand how looking good on the outside can help them
feel great on the inside
become familiar with body shapes, colour makeup
know how to create a personal style on a budget

through the music of Rihanna, Beyonce, India Arie and others

writers
• create a rap or song using their own lyrics

SCHOOL HOTTIE will profile everyday NZ women and
their career journeys.

Understand how how to get the best out of school or learning
Learn how to access online career resources and support
Choose three career pathways and develop action plans

12. You can’t get lost on a straight road. cosmo chick will explore safety in
every day living and gather resources [real and online] for a chicks survival pack
By the end of this workshop each participant will
understand how to deal with conflict, peer pressure, facebook and social
media and how to say NO
learn how to access community and online resources for mental, physical
and sexual health and safety
know how to create a free online storage system for important
documents and resumes

14. Where do you come from? What do you stand for? Whatever culture or
tradition you come from its a part of your history and lineage, its a part
of you! CULTURE QUEEN explores the benefits of cultural identity
and confidence
By the end of this workshop each participant will:
Understand the importance of family history or whakapapa and
how they can relate to their ancestors
Identify an elderly relative or friend to interview about their life
journey and begin writing their own life story
Create a family tree or pedigree chart in written or art form
