Tornadoes form from spinning air tubes that can reach 200 mph winds and move as fast as cars, though they are small and short-lived. During storms, stay low and cover your head in the center of the house, like in a closet, bathroom, or under stairs. Thunderstorms are large rainstorms with lightning and thunder; during one, do not bathe, be outside, or touch electrical outlets. Hurricanes can last a week with 100 mph winds; evacuate if one is coming with an emergency kit of food, water, radio, first aid supplies, blankets, money, good shoes, and a full gas tank.
