Why You Should Replace Windows 11 with Nitrux Linux 3.5.0 for enhanced perfor...SOFTTECHHUB
The choice of an operating system plays a pivotal role in shaping our computing experience. For decades, Microsoft's Windows has dominated the market, offering a familiar and widely adopted platform for personal and professional use. However, as technological advancements continue to push the boundaries of innovation, alternative operating systems have emerged, challenging the status quo and offering users a fresh perspective on computing.
One such alternative that has garnered significant attention and acclaim is Nitrux Linux 3.5.0, a sleek, powerful, and user-friendly Linux distribution that promises to redefine the way we interact with our devices. With its focus on performance, security, and customization, Nitrux Linux presents a compelling case for those seeking to break free from the constraints of proprietary software and embrace the freedom and flexibility of open-source computing.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

1. EXT. PIPE MILL RUINS DAY
We begin with multiple low angle shots showing off the
ruins of the landscape around Hartlepool and the decaying
pipe mill. We then cut to a final low angle shot on a
back entrance to the old pipe mill, our character walks
past and we slowly zoom as he walks away. We then cut to
a medium wide angle and dolly showing our main character
CALE FARRAH walking down the pathway towards the pipe
mill defences. Then cut to a close up showing CALE FARRAH
stopping for drink from his Vault 414 canteen, then cut
to an extreme close up of him looking ahead towards the
defences. Then cut to a over shoulder shot showing PERRY
DANIEL waving from atop the pipe mill defences. Then cut
to a medium wide eye level shot from behind PERRY DANIEL
showing CALE FARRAH's approach. The camera angles switch
between close ups and over the shoulder shots during
conversation.
PERRY DANIEL
Finally made it then huh?
CALE FARRAH
"Cale are you okay, you look hurt" oh no im fine
thanks Perry. Prick.
PERRY DANIEL
Hey, nobody likes the medical runs, but needs must
my boy!
CALE FARRAH
Yeah I don't think them feral dogs or the local
gang members like our medical runs either
PERRY DANIEL
(spits on ground) No I don't imagine they do,
personally I think its just you they don't like
(laughs)
CALE FARRAH
(sticks up middle finger and shakes head)
CALE FARRAH takes a seat on the table where there is a
ham radio setup, an ashtray and an empty whiskey bottle
(medium shot).
CALE FARRAH
Have I missed much then?
PERRY DANIEL
Well, im sure you didn't miss Ol' Joe's cooking,
but yes, you did actually miss something of
2. interest this time, something that I have a feeling
will be of interest to you personally
CALE FARRAH
Do tell?
PERRY DANIEL
About 8 sharp this morning, just after a
radioactive rainstorm has passed, I returned to my
post, Ham radio going crackers with the usual tripe
from that local gang and By the water radio. As i
was flicking through the stations, we got an
unusual SOS message replaying over and over.
CALE FARRAH
Sure it wasn't one of the kids messing around with
Ol' Joe's radio kits?
PERRY DANIEL
Positive, it was a man's voice, low pitch ,
couldn't quite make it out at first but it soon
levelled out. Shouting in the background, and the
same sentence being replayed over and over "This is
the Vault 414 overseer"
Extreme close up on CALE FARRAH as his eyes widen
sharply, then quick cut to a close up of his face, PERRY
DANIEL's voice is muffled in the background. We can still
hear what is being said.
PERRY DANIEL
You okay man? I did have a feeling that would hit a
nerve given what happened.
CALE FARRAH
Yeah, I can't say I was expecting that
PERRY DANIEL
Listen, if this is a part of you're past you are
willing to revisit, im willing to come with you to
help out, Because if the interference and the
background noise we can't be sure if this is a hoax
or a trap or for real, but personally i think it
would be worth checking out, people you know or
family members could be still stuck in there.
Camera switches to a medium shot as CALE FARRAH takes a
drag of his cigarette, and he nods his head in agreement.
Cut to Medium wide angle shot of both CALE FARRAH and
PERRY DANIEL, standing up and leaving the guard post to
go prepare for the trip.
INT. PIPE MILL GUARDS BARRACKS DAY
3. Medium wide angle shot from above showing CALE FARRAH and
PERRY DANIEL entering the Guards barracks, establishing
shot of the barracks while the 2 main characters talk in
the background. Then cut to close up of CALE FARRAH's
armour and then pan down to a footlocker containing 2
weapons.
CALE FARRAH
The vault is about 20 miles north of here, its on
the sandbanks towards the old power station, that
means high amounts of radiation. Once im inside the
vault the radiation shouldn't be a problem
PERRY DANIEL
Yeah then you're only problem will be whatever
lurks inside the vault. I gotta tell you, i'll be
surprised if anything has survived a raider attack
like this.
CALE FARRAH
Overseer's tunnel, leads to an SOS room, plenty of
food and clean water from the water purifier. I can
only presume any survivors have bunked out in there
for the past year. There's enough space in there
for at least 8 people and they can still access the
main computer servers so they could lock themselves
in.
PERRY DANIEL
I Guess from that radio transmission that the
servers must of went down and unlocked the doors,
and being the bloodthirsty little bastards they
are, the raiders went in for the kill
CALE FARRAH
Lets hope thats not the case, if it is, i think
i'll be needing these.
Close ups and medium shots showing CALE FARRAH preparing
to venture into the wastes, then cut to a long shot of
PERRY DANIEL opening the barracks door and the sunshine
breaking in, so that we can only see the enigmatic figure
of CALE FARRAH. Slow zoom until the camera goes out of
focus as CALE FARRAH leaves.
PERRY DANIEL
Good luck my friend, i hope for you're sake, and
for you're families sake that there isn't too much
problem. Plus, if you die, i'll have to put up with
Ol' Joe on my own (laughing),
CALE FARRAH
4. Well thats incentive enough for me to make it back
alive! So long friend...
EXT FIELD BEHIND DESTROYED INDUSTRIAL ESTATE EVENING
After the camera zooms until out of focus, we fade to
black and cut to low angle hand held medium shot of CALE
FARRAH making his way through an eeerily quiet field
towards Blue lagoon beaches. Then cut to a long shot of
CALE FARRAH walking along the path, a bullet smashes off
the fence behind him, and we cut to a close up of CALE
FARRAH hitting the floor to take cover behind the long
grass. Slowly pan round and then camera rises up above
the tall grass to a medium wide and shows 3 Top hat
society (gang) members closing in on CALE FARRAH's
position.
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 1
What do we have here? It would appear to be a lone
wanderer of sorts
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 3
Wrong place wrong time my friend (laughing)
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 2
Don't worry, it will be slow and painful! rather
than the worse alternative, quick and painless!
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 1
Wrong way round you utter imbecile.
Top hat society gang member 1 slaps gang member 2, close
ups of each gang member as they talk and medium shot as 1
slaps the other. We then cut to an over the shoulder shot
of CALE FARRAH after he has crawled to a better position
while the gang members were talking.
CALE FARRAH
Bad move my friends, you don't know who you're
messing with here.
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 3
Oh dear chaps, we appear to be in a spot of bother
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 1
You gentlemen are detrimental to my health i tell
you, especially this one with half a ruddy brain!
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 2
Where'd the weird guy go?
CALE FARRAH
5. I tell you what, as you've given me this (points to
wound on his face) i'll give you something.
TOP HAT SOCIETY GANG MEMBER 3
Whats that then mister?
CALE FARRAH
A one way ticket, to heaven...
Cut to a medium shot using the VATS graphic showing each
gang members heads, guns and hands being highlighted. We
then cut to a close up of CALE's gun as he swiftly
dispatches each gang member.
INT ABANDONED BOMB SHELTER NIGHT
Low medium shot of CALE FARRAH next to a campfire he has
built in an old bomb shelter about halfway to Vault 414
(nicknamed the halfway to hell). Close up as CALE lights
up a cigarette, then switch to close up of a plate of old
baked beans he has cooked. Then switch to a long shot
from across the field showing CALE peering through a gap
with his binoculars, then switch to a close up as a red
dot starts moving rapidly around the small opening, and
then a gunshot sounds and hits the concrete next to
CALE's head, switch to a medium low shot of CALE falling
backwards and scarpering away with his belongings. He
leaves the gas on inside and leaves the cooker on too.
Then switch to a long shot behind the bomb shelter
showing CALE running off in one direction and the
attacked entering the Bomb shelter, then switch to a
close up of the attackers face as he realises the
imminent explosion
UN-NAMED ATTACKER
Oh Shi-
We then switch a low handheld shot of CALE running away
as the small building explodes. Then switch to a close up
on CALE's face as he stares at the blaze lighting up the
darkness. fade to black and then into next scene
EXT BLUE LAGOON BEACH CLOSE TO ENTRANCE OF VAULT 414 MORNING
We fade back in to low handheld shot as CALE FARRAH keeps
low but hurries along the side of the high sand dunes
between him and the gang occupied space outside Vault
414. Then switch to a very wide show showing some gang
members playing a game of caravan by a desk at the
guardposts, and also showing CALE moving into a position
to flank them from atop the sand dunes.
CALE FARRAH
(whispers) This is it, here we go!
6. We cut to a POV shot as CALE vaults the sand dune an
heads down toward to the guard outpost. then cut to a
medium close up as he backs against a small sand dune
keeping him out of view of the guards. He throws over a
grenade and we cut to a low close up as the grenade lands
at the feet of the guards. Cut to a close up of each of
the guards faces as they look at each other confused, we
then cut back to the medium close up of CALE as the
grenade explodes and sends a bloody mess into the air.
This explosion can be heard for miles and it alerts the
other gang members located towards the entrance of the
vault. We cut to medium shot as they sound the alarm and
then a wide shot as they get into position to deal with
CALE. It goes all quiet, we cut to a medium wide pan
showing off the guards and the surrounding area. We cut
to a medium close up of a gas masked guard and out of
nowhere he is gunned down, we then zoom out as the
remaining guards begin firing on CALE's positon. Cut to a
close up of a guard as he radio's to their boss.
PRINCETON GANG MEMBER
Boss! we need assistance right now, we are pinned
down! its him!
we then cut to a close up of CALE as he peers over the
gap between the dunes where he is hidden, at this moment
he is hit in the shoulder by a stray bullet and falls
backwards. We cut to a medium close up and zoom in on his
seemingly lifeless body, Cut to the low medium shot of
the remaining guards as they move toward CALE
PRINCETON GANG MEMBER
Where's he gone? is he hit? Find him now!
We cut to first person shot of a visibly injured CALE as
he slowly gathers his bearings. There is some camera
shake as sound is distorted as CALE regains conciousness.
The camera follows CALE's movements as he pulls himself
up to prepare for the oncoming attack from the Guards. We
switch back to a first person shot as CALE shakily raises
his laser pistol to aim for the guards. We switch to a
medium shot as CALE goes into VATS to take out the
oncoming threat. Switch to a close up on CALE and switch
between closeups CALE and Guards as he takes out the
remaining 3 with a shot to the torso and shots to the
head. Switch to medium close up as CALE drops is his
weapon and crouches down and begins coughing and groaning
in pain. Then cut to a wide shot as CALE rolls down the
sand dune and slowly makes his way toward the vault
entrance. Then Medium close up as he peers behind a sand
dune toward the vault door, and see's only fire and
death. Then close up of CALE as he stumbles toward one of
the lifeless bodies, then cut to a medium shot behind
CALE as he crumbles to the ground, visibly in tears and
heartbroken at the loss of his fellow Vault dwellers.
Then cut to a first person shot, as we hear footsteps in
the background, and they get closer until coming to a
shot next to CALE. CALE looks up to see LOU PRINCETON,
just barely and the sun causes a shadow across LOU's
7. face. We then cut to a closeup of CALE, as LOU places the
barrel of the pistol on his head.
LOU PRINCETON
Give god my regards youngster.
We cut to black as we hear a gunshot, signalling the end
of the film.
