Biobased and biodegradable plastics are a natural part of the biological loop in a circular economy. But did you know that biobased is not the same as biodegradable? That they often are quite suitable for reuse and recycling as well? Student pitches and cases from research and design demonstrate the inspiring world beyond disposable packaging: long life applications of biobased plastics.

This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.

Monitoring and evaluating the impact of micro/nano plastics from the
degradation of water pipe systems on human health and the ecosystem
Why plastics in water pipe systems?
• Wide range of properties (light-weight,strength and flexibility)
• Ideal choice for the transportation of drinking water
• 50% of plastic pipes used for water supply inside buildings
Problem?
• Leaching of organic micro-pollutants can impact the hygienic properties of drinking
water
• Lack of understanding of plastic products degradationand emission of by-products
• Lack of data related to microorganism colonisation of plastic materials
• Lack of (on-line) analytical methods for detection of micro and nano plastics
Aim of the project?
Monitor and evaluate the impact of these micro-pollutants on human
health and the ecosystem
could possibly stretch to the degradation of plastics in the
marine environment and of plastics in general.
harmonization of analytical methods

What is the challenge
• Multiple hazards are not considered during
decision making
• Tools are needed to assess the risks due to
multiple hazards
• Target governments, local authorities, water
utilities etc.
Proposed approach
• Hazard modelling
• Cascading dynamics across systems
• Framework for vulnerability assessment
• Interdependencies modelling
• Hazard risk evaluation using IoT, Big Data
and AI/ML
• Tools to model systems and
interdependencies, and use to make
decisions
• Satellite information + sensors and models
to learn uncertainties and changes in time
• Conduct standardization activities for
handling multi-hazard risk assessment
• Link with H2020 DRS projects.
Increased pumping from boreholes by the sea
may affect water quality, and as a result, the
yield, which will then have a cascading effect on
the food production, as well as in the increased
use of processed water for agriculture.
