State Objectives
 Students will be able to count individual water
drops developing math counting skills.
 Students will be able to manipulate a medicine
dropper to drop water into a film canister.
 Students will be able to create a chart or graph to
calculate their peers water drop count.
Methods, Media, and
Materials
 Easel
 chart paper
 film canisters/cups
 medicine droppers
 water
 computer
Require Learner Participation
 The lesson will begin by singing a counting song – One, Two,
Buckle My Shoe.
 The students will then be given instructions and a demonstration
about the activity.
 The teacher will place the medicine dropper in the cup of water
and then squeeze the top to hold water in and then release the
water by dropping single drops into the canister.
 At the release of every drop the students will count.
 Students will respond by keeping track of water drop counts and
then record count on the chart paper.
 Tally marks will be used to record totals.

 Place the dropper in your hand.

 Place the dropper into the container of water and
squeeze the dropper. Make sure the water goes into
the dropper.

 Then, move the dropper over the cup.

 Next, squeeze the dropper to release water drops, one
by one. And, begin to count.
