• January 12: WMD search is over in Iraq.
• August 31: Nearly 1,000 Shiite Muslims killed in a stampede during a
religious festival.
• September 30: Army misses recruiting target by a lot.
• October 13: Bush administration pays no attention to warnings of
post-war chaos.
• October 15: Iraqis vote to ratify draft constitution
• November 8: Evidence emerged that the United States dropped
massive quantities of white phosphorus on Fallujah, Iraq, during the
attack in November of the previous year.
• December 15: Iraqis vote to elect members of the Iraq assembly

• January 6: Approximately 140 killed in Iraq.
• April: former CIA agent revealed that Bush was told before the war that
Iraq did not have WMD. Also, Powell says that Bush went into Iraq
without enough troops.
• May 20: Prime Minister Maliki oversees the formation of Iraq’s first
permanent constitutional government since the fall of Sadam Hussein.
• August 15: report of 3,438 Iraqi civilians died in July.
• September 24: New National Intelligence reveals that the Iraq war has
increased the terrorist threat.
• November 5: Saddam sentenced to death by hanging for the killing of 148
Shiites.
• November 27: NBC news decides to classify the war in Iraq as a civil war.
• December 8: 71% of Americans disapprove of how Bush is handling the
war.
• December 30: Saddam executed by hanging.
6. 2007
• January 11: 70% of Americans disapprove of Bush sending more troops into
Iraq.
• January 26: The White house has authorized the killing of any Iranians
who are working with the Iraqi’s militia.
• January 30: Army and Marine crops are short of military supplies.
• February 22: Iraqi insurgents use chlorine bombs, a new type of chemical
weapon.
• March 24: Record high percentage of Americans believe that the Iraq war
is not worth fighting anymore.
• Mach 29: Senate passes Iraq withdrawal, regardless of a threat veto from
Bush.
• April 9: Tens of thousands of Iraqis gather to protest U.S presence in Iraq.
• April 26: Senate passes withdrawal bill, which Bush vetoes in May.
• June 7: 3,500 U.S troops have been killed since the war began.
• November24: U.S starts the first major pull-out from Iraq.
7. 2008
• January 22: Study finds hundreds of Bush administration lies.
• February 25-26: Turkey attacks rebels and Iraq calls on the U.S
to intervene on the Turkish incursion.
• February 28: Sunni forces losing patience with the United
States for their insufficient U.S support and struggling Iraqi
government
• February 29: Turkey says its withdrawing its troops from Iraq
• March 2: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadeinjad visits Iraq
and hundreds of Sunnis protest his visit
• March 16: Millions of people in Iraq are still deprived of clean
water and medical care.
8. • July 2: Iraqi parliament passed provincial elections bill but
faces trouble as the presidency might not pass it.
• September 17: Syria appoints ambassador to Iraq.
• November 17: Iraq’s cabinet approves of Status of Force
Agreement; final date for American troop departure is a step
closer.
• November 27: Iraqi parliament passes agreement; the
Parliament ratified a security agreement that sets the end of
the United States role in the war and marks the beginning of
new relationships with countries.
9. 2009
• February 6: Prime Minister Nouri Maliki has won a victory in
provincial elections across Iraq.
• March 9: 12,00 U.S troops to leave Iraq; Obama announces to pull
them out by August 2010.
• March 22: Chaos feared as U.S closes a prison in southern Iraq.
• June 30: U.S withdraws its remaining combat troops from Iraqi
cities.
• October 16: Sadrists push electoral reform; an anti-American party is
speeding ahead with the electoral reform.
10. 2010
• March 17: Iraq calls on U.S help to beat refugee crisis.
• April 20: U.S military death toll in Iraq reaches 4,392
• August 31: Obama declares end to combat mission in Iraq. His
primary job goes to getting the economy back together and other
domestic issues.
• December 31: Iraq approves of new government.
