So, how do you build these sorts of features with .NET?
In this session, Phil will cover the benefits of moving away from polling to push, the options you have with .NET web application to do this and when adding real-time features to your apps, and the pros and cons of each to help choose which is the best solution for you.
The Recording HTTP Proxy: Not Yet Another Messiah - Bulgaria PHP 2019Viktor Todorov
In our work we tend to believe in Messiah. A messiah can be the new magic tool which will solve all our problems, or a shiny framework, so much better than everything we have used before, or even a person in our team. We all know the messiah in software testing. It’s the Unit Testing. But is the unit test the one and the only way to test a software? The answer is no. This lecture will show you a new approach to software testing using a Recording HTTP Proxy and how it can help you achieve better quality of your software. Without proclaiming it as “The Great New Messiah”.

Beyond Breakpoints: A Tour of Dynamic AnalysisFastly
Despite advances in software design and static analysis techniques, software remains incredibly complicated and difficult to reason about. Understanding highly-concurrent, kernel-level, and intentionally-obfuscated programs are among the problem domains that spawned the field of dynamic program analysis. More than mere debuggers, the challenge of dynamic analysis tools is to be able record, analyze, and replay execution without sacrificing performance. This talk will provide an introduction to the dynamic analysis research space and hopefully inspire you to consider integrating these techniques into your own internal tools.

Cloud Foundry Cookbook: Recipes for a Successful Cloud Foundry Deployment in ...VMware Tanzu
Technical Track presented by Vinícius Carvalho, Senior Field Engineer at Pivotal.
Cloud Foundry provides the foundation for your PaaS infrastructure. It streamlines deployment and turns your developers and your ops into super heroes when it comes to time to market. But what about your architecture? How should you build your services (or microservices)? How can you guarantee security is being enforced on every layer of your architecture? How can you solve cross-service dependencies? How can services discover each other? How could developers leverage an API explorer to test your services and build apps on top of it? How could you leverage a data pipeline to solve polyglot persistence and cascading operations on diverse persistence technologies? How can you monetize on top of your public services? How could you use a service registry to boost your models with extended metadata?
This session presents a few recipes to demonstrate how to solve some of the problems found when applying cloud patterns to real business scenarios.

Wikipedia’s Event Data Platform, Or: JSON Is Okay Too With Andrew Otto | Current 2022
The Wikimedia Foundation (which operates Wikipedia) has a different engineering environment than most organizations. We build systems using only Free and Open Source Software. We have a diverse and active developer community that contributes to our software. For privacy reasons, we own and run bare metal hardware. We care about open data, and strive to make our data publicly available.
Because of this, the way we build event driven architectures is different too. The data we produce should be easily consumable for both internal engineers as well as the public
developer community. Avro and other binary formats can make using data difficult, so we intentionally chose to avoid them.
This session will describe how and why we built Wikimedia's Event Data Platform using Kafka, JSON and JSONSchemas, and how we make our event data available to the world.

The Netflix API has undergone a transformation since its inception in 2008. It has transitioned from being a public API with a generic RESTful interface to a platform for creating highly optimized, device-centric APIs that are critical to delivering the Netflix streaming experience on over 1000 different device types.
This talk covers the design principles that shaped the transformation of the API as well as the technology that powers it, enabling rapid user experience iteration and bringing Netflix streaming to almost 38 million subscribers around the world.
Microservice architectures have changed how companies develop and deploy applications, and have therefore in turn affected the testing process as well. New techniques have now emerged and others have been enhanced, while old testing techniques (used in monolith) drive us to a dead-end when we try to apply them to a microservices architecture.
In this master class, Alex Soto will introduce some testing techniques, such as service virtualization, contract testing and testing in production to increase deployment velocity from 1 week to N times per day and deploy each service independently without worrying about breaking the compatibility between services. He will show you several examples in Java but will also point out resources for other languages as well.
After this theoretical and live code master class, you'll understand how to test microservice architectures and reduce the friction between trying to apply old testing techniques to a new paradigm.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
