This document describes the development of a mechanical maintenance training simulator for F-16 aircraft engines using OpenSimulator. It aims to allow engine technicians to practice maintenance procedures virtually before training on physical engines. The simulator currently models the installation of an engine into an aircraft fuselage. It allows up to 4 users to collaboratively practice tasks requiring coordination, like lifting the heavy engine. Initial user testing was conducted at an air force base with technicians and trainers. Their feedback will inform further development of the simulator.
