operations. Manage entrucking and detrucking of personnel being transported. Oversees and checks proper loading and
unloading of cargo on vehicles and trailers. Secure cargo against inclement weather, pilferage, and damage. Operates
vehicle component material handling equipment (MHE), as required. Employs land navigation techniques. Must be
knowledgeable with the operation of radios and weapons when they are mounted on the vehicle. Perform vehicle self
recovery and field expedients to include towing vehicles. Corrects or reports all vehicle deficiencies; supports mechanics
where necessary. Prepares vehicle for movement/shipment by air, rail, or vessel.

Upon completion of this interservice training course, the student will be able to operate light and medium tactical
wheeled vehicles under varying conditions on and off the road, over a commitment route, and in convoy operations;
perform vehicle recovery; perform operator maintenance; perform vehicle inspection; and prepare operator,
maintenance, and accident forms.
Methods of instruction include classroom and practical exercises covering the operation of five-ton cargo trucks and
teaches motor skills such as controlling speed, space management, night driving, skid control, accident procedures and
fires, winter driving, and hazard perception. Also covered are braking while driving on roadway or through streams,
brush, mud sand and ice; executing downhill braking procedures; identifying flags; communicating by radio; defending
against attack; and driving through contaminated areas. Course covers use of strip map in transport operations;
personal health and hazardous materials rules; and basic principles of inspecting, balancing, weighing, and securing
cargo. This is an interservice course.
