The visual pathways from the retina to the brain consist of two routes: the magnocellular pathway and the parvocellular pathway. The magnocellular pathway transmits information about motion and luminance while the parvocellular pathway transmits information about color and fine detail. Together these pathways provide the brain with different aspects of visual information.
