Heroes what makes someone a hero?
from last day... we decided that if people always kept the same rules all the time, then sometimes really bad things would happen. we thought of time where it might be right to ‘do the wrong thing...’ we thought of famous examples of ‘heroes’ who had done this.
recap... should you tell the truth even if you know something really bad will happen if you do? we thought of sometimes where you might have to do something that was wrong.
today... we’re going to think some more about these heroes people in ancient greece believed that they held the secret to how we should live and be happy as people.
WOMEN - know your virtue
my heroes video says that’s what men and women should be like. but what if you were in charge? who would we want to be like?
The OC
Sandy Cohen he’s the perfect human being
sandy cohen he always does what he thinks is right no matter what it takes looks after and respects his mother
sandy cohen he always does what he thinks is right no matter what it takes looks after and respects his mother
sandy cohen loving husband cares for his family pretty funny.
what about your heroes? think of someone you would say was your hero. make a quick list of the things (qualities) that you like about them. today we are going to design the perfect person!
back in ancient greece... they agreed with us. it’s impossible just to live by a set of rules if you want to like a human being is meant to be. so instead of making a list of rules, the made a list of things called virtues ‘It’s good to be brave’
Virtues virtues are like properties so if a persons action was helping the poor... then the virtue would be compassion or if the action was not being scared in battle... the virtue would be bravery most virtues end in ‘ness’ in english faithfulness, truthfulness...
Sandy Cohen faithful and loving husband cares for people who are helpless always does what he thinks is right. faithfulness compassionate just
question 1 what were the virtues in ancient greece? think of some examples of properties that you think would be good virtues for people to possess and explain why they are desirable.
let’s do it... draw the outline of a person in your book... think about some of the properties the perfect person would possess. discuss in pairs and take notes.
feedback... what kind of things did you get? explain why... veto system write underneath, ‘this is what the perfect human would be like’
complications disagreements would it be good if everyone was... does it depend who you are? can you ever be too brave? or too honest?
