This document summarizes the pitch drop experiment, the longest-running laboratory experiment that began in 1927 at the University of Queensland, Australia. Professor Parnell poured heated pitch into a glass funnel that has been slowly dripping drops of pitch ever since. Only nine drops have fallen in almost 90 years, with the last drop falling in 2014. The experiment has a tragic story as both Professor Parnell and his successor Professor Mainstone died without seeing some of the drops fall. It now has a live webcam stream so anyone can watch the rare falling drops of pitch in this very long-term demonstration of pitch's viscosity.
