2. VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (VCE)
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA)
awards the VCE Certificate. Graduation is based on satisfactory
completion of 16 units, which must include three units from the
English group, with at least one at Units 3 and 4 level and three
sequences of Units 3 and 4 studies other than English.
VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF APPLIED LEARNING (VCAL)
The VCAA awards the VCAL Certificate. Graduation is based
on satisfactory completion of 10 credits, including at least one
credit for each of the four curriculum strands. The VCAL can
be undertaken at three levels: Foundation, Intermediate and
Senior. VCAL Certificates at Intermediate and Senior levels are
recognised as Senior Secondary Qualifications.
STATEMENT OF RESULTS
The VCAA issues the official Statement of Results to students. It
is a cumulative record of all results for the student.
Results for units in accredited VCE studies are reported as:

N = Not Satisfactory

Results for units in accredited VCAL studies are reported as:
S = Satisfactory
Grades and study scores are calculated for students who are
enrolled in VCE Unit 3 and 4 sequences and elect to complete
Graded Assessments. Grades A+ to E, UG (Ungraded) and NA
(Not Assessed) are reported for Graded Assessments. The grades
are derived from scores. UG (Ungraded) means that the score
was too low to be assigned a grade. NA (Not Assessed) indicates
that the Graded Assessment was not undertaken or submitted.
Study scores for VCE units are based on scores for the Graded
Assessments and indicate how. well the student performed
in relation to all others who undertook the study. Fifty is the
maximum study score. For studies with large enrolments (1000 or

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) AND
FURTHER EDUCATION (FE)
Where students have undertaken training from a VET or FE
certificate as part of their VCE or VCAL, they are issued a
statement of units of competency and modules that have been
satisfactorily completed.
It is the responsibility of the student's Registered Training
Organisation (RTO) to issue a Certificate and Statement of
Attainment.

Any person who attempts to alter the Victorian Certificate
of Education, Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning or the
Statement of Results, or conspires to do so, shall be liable to
be prosecuted for an offence including an offence under the
Crimes Act 1958. Any such cases will be reported to the police.
Any Certificate or Statement of Results that has been tampered
with will be considered invalid. Any person that suspects that
a Certificate or Statement of Results has been tampered with
should report the matter to the Manager, Corporate Governance,
VCAA immediately.
If any errors or omissions are ascertained by the VCAA or if the
VCAA subsequently is satisfied that tlie Certificate or Statement
of Results was obtained by fraud, illegal or unfair means,
the VCAA reserves 1he right to, and may, cancel or alter the
Certificate or Statement of Results. Further, the VCAA reseives
the right to notify any organisations or individuals who have
