Over 30 years of financing and operating experience.
Founding partner and Executive Chairman of Ascendant
Resources. Former President and CEO of Sierra Metals,
former President and CEO at Largo Resources where he
facilitated the acquisition of its flagship Maracas
Vanadium Project in 2006 and advanced the project
through a maiden resource, definitive feasibility, and
completion of a $300 million financing, construction and
first production.
• Martin Walter, CEO
Former CEO of Treasury Metals Inc., an Ontario junior
gold mine developer. He has over 20 years of
international experience in mineral and mine
development as a consulting geologist and an MBA from
the University of Toronto.
• W. John Priestner, President & COO
Former General Manager of US operations for Philip
Environmental, responsible for development and
construction management of several large waste-
management facilities. Former professional football
player in the NFL and CFL for eight seasons and served on
the CFL Pension Advisory Board and the Benefits
Committee, several local charities, and the Neuro-
Oncology foundation.
• Pierre-Jean Lafleur, Director and VP Exploration
A qualified person in accordance with National Instrument 43-101. He
specializes in mineral resource estimation, exploration and mining. He
worked for mining companies in Canada for 15 years, including Falconbridge
(now Glencore), until 1994, when he became a Consultant focused in base
metals, precious metals, and industrial minerals (iron ore). He graduated
from the University of Montreal (1976) as a Professional Engineer (Geology).
• Casper Groenewald, Director
Currently SVP for DRA America. He has over 20 years of Mineral Processing
experience in the Americas and Africa. Former Technical Director for Largo
Resources, where he was responsible for the commissioning and
optimization of the vanadium process facility in Brazil. Former
Operations Director at Minopex, responsible for the operation and
maintenance of 5 diamond plants. He also worked for Vantech
(Xstrata’s Vanadium Division) and Highveld Steel and Vanadium
Corporation. A metallurgist who has successfully commissioned and
optimized mineral processing facilities in Africa, Brazil and Canada.
• Mitchell Kidd, Director
Engineer, Business consultant and Lean Six Sigma Practitioner, with more
than 30 years of Vanadium, Titanium and Iron Foundry experience. He
earned his master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue
University, in 1985. Mr. Kidd has served on the Boards of two industry
producer and trade organizations and is well versed in international business
processes.
• Victor Dario, Director
A financial consultant with more than 30 years of experience and knowledge
in the world of corporate finance and asset management. He has held
executive positions with UBS AG and Bank Invest AG, Zurich. He holds a
master’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Zurich,
Switzerland.
