Toastmasters is a nonprofit organization founded in 1924 to help people become more confident speakers and leaders. There are now over 270,000 members in more than 13,000 clubs across 116 countries. The UT Staff Toastmasters Club was founded in 2010 and has over 20 members who meet weekly to give speeches and take on leadership roles to improve their communication and leadership skills through a learn-by-doing approach without lectures. Members work through self-paced curriculums on communication and leadership to hone their public speaking, presentation, listening, and persuasion abilities.
