Laser is a device that emits light through stimulated emission of radiation. It is an acronym that stands for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation." Lasers have many uses including medicine like laser eye surgery, entertainment through laser light shows, and material processing by modifying shapes quickly without retooling. Other applications of lasers include military target identification, fiber optic cable communication, optical disc drives like CDs and DVDs that use lasers to read and write data, barcode scanners in supermarkets, and laser printers.
