My Mission: As Vice Chan-
cellor of Advancement,
my goal is to raise the
visibility and recognition
of the University of South
Carolina Beaufort. USCB
serves the sea islands
of South Carolina and
Georgia from its main
campus in Bluffton, the
arts campus in Beaufort
and the centers on Hilton
Head Island. Next year,
USCB will complete a
decade of growth, during
which its degree programs,
faculty and students more
than doubled. USCB offers
Savannahians access to
academic programs unique
in the region.
Tools of the Trade: The
real-life stories of faculty
and students interacting
in teaching and learning,
research, internships and
community service and
the success of Sand Shark
Athletics. Key partnerships
with regional leaders,
donors, alumni, students
and faculty who caught the
vision of how USCB can
meet our region’s needs
and build on its strengths.
Top-notch educational
and faculty relationships,
including Indiana Uni-
versity Ph.D. in Business,
UNC-Chapel Hill MBA and
Agnes Scott College.
I Lead By: Collaborating. As
higher education faces
a whirlwind of change,
USCB’s Advancement
team is eager to learn and
expand its capabilities. My
Advancement colleagues
collaborate fluidly with
each other and are deeply
integrated into USCB
academics, campus life
and community initia-
tives. Working alongside
marketing and fundraising
professionals who lead by
challenging themselves
is fun.
Not-for-Profit Business
Philosophy: Be grateful
for opportunities, maintain
a sense of adventure
regarding the future, stay
resilient in the tough spots
and remain committed to
the mission and potential
of the organization. The
motto “It’s about the
people and the relation-
ships” is really true in
higher education.
