Coco Chanel was a famous French fashion designer known for her timeless designs like the Chanel suit and little black dress. She was raised in an orphanage and taught to sew. In 1910, she opened her first shop in Paris selling hats and later added clothing. One of her early successes was a dress made from an old jersey that many women asked her to recreate. Chanel launched her first perfume in the 1920s and introduced iconic designs still popular today. She never married and died in 1971 at the Hotel Ritz in Paris.
