Alopecia affects many individuals worldwide. Owing to the large role that hair loss plays in self-image and self-confidence, an increasing number of these men and women seek options for hair restoration.Major considerations and sources of hesitation for strip surgical restoration are the visible linear scar, prolonged downtime, and other expected side effects of invasive procedures. These problems can be circumvented by smaller harvest approaches. However, the traditional punch harvest, which produces no linear scar, does leave patients with an often-unsatisfactory “doll hair” appearance. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that utilizes a punch device to harvest occipital follicular units that are later transplanted in areas of loss to restore hair growth. FUE captures the benefit of multiple available restoration techniques and avoids the disadvantages of traditional strip surgery. A number of variations on the procedure are currently in practice and many more exciting advances are underway.

Hair Transplantation techniques have been evolving and becoming more effective. Among the various cosmetic surgeries, hair restoration has become very innovative. If you undertake this cosmetic surgery then the results would look more natural. It has become a very aesthetic and exciting surgery today. The way it uses hair follicles to restore hair is a unique invention of science. Latest methods like hair cloning are also researched on. This will help in hair multiplication and will also cure baldness with increased hair growth.
Methods and Material:
The two methods included in hair transplant surgery are: Follicular Unit Transplant and Follicular Unit Extraction. Each method has its own unique pros and cons. These methods are based on the doctrine of donor dominance. Some of the tests that are done include: serum chemistries and coagulation studies. Screening technology is also enabled to take follicular measurements.
Results:
Care after Operation:
Just like one should take precaution after any operation, similarly, after undergoing a hair transplant, you must take a number of precautions. Direct exposure to sunlight must be avoided. You must not fiddle with your hair for the first two days; however, shampoo can be done. You must be careful that post operation, scabs must not be formed around the hair shaft. There is also a phase called “shock-loss”. In this phase, newly planted hairs usually fall out. Nevertheless, new hair re-grows within 2 or 3 months. The growth process continues and thickens with time.
Discussions:
A patient takes up hair transplant only when he or she wants to get rid of baldness and hair thinning problems permanently. Nevertheless, it has been reported that hair thinning is also seen post this cosmetic surgery. It is also called “shock-loss”. This is an important side-effect seen after hair transplant surgery. Another common sight is the appearance of bald patches. An estimated amount of 50 hairs are usually lost each day. The temple and the scalp do often get swollen. Itching and Scratching must be refrained from as that can lead to scab formation.
Conclusion:
According to a recent study, papilla cells and stem cells have been found in the hair follicles. It can be used in correcting baldness with the help of hair multiplication. This method is also called hair cloning. Therefore, it can be concluded that the hair surgical technique has a long way to go. Those who want to opt for this surgery can browse through the internet to gain an in-depth knowledge about hair transplantation. Results have proved that pain is negligible and the recovery time also doesn’t protract. You do not need to be hospitalized nor is any bed rest required. Hair Transplant indeed is a viable choice and is rewarding.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection
Acute scrotum is a general term referring to an emergency condition affecting the contents or the wall of the scrotum.
There are a number of conditions that present acutely, predominantly with pain and/or swelling
A careful and detailed history and examination, and in some cases, investigations allow differentiation between these diagnoses. A prompt diagnosis is essential as the patient may require urgent surgical intervention
Testicular torsion refers to twisting of the spermatic cord, causing ischaemia of the testicle.
Testicular torsion results from inadequate fixation of the testis to the tunica vaginalis producing ischemia from reduced arterial inflow and venous outflow obstruction.
The prevalence of testicular torsion in adult patients hospitalized with acute scrotal pain is approximately 25 to 50 percent

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

Unraveling the Cost and Process of Hair Transplant Surgery: A Comprehensive Guide
1. Hair transplant surgery is a popular solution for individuals
experiencing hair loss, as it involves the transfer of healthy hair
follicles from one part of the scalp to another. In this guide, we will
delve into the cost and process of hair transplant surgery, providing a
comprehensive overview for those considering this procedure.
The Cost of Hair Transplant Surgery
The cost of hair transplant surgery can vary widely depending on
several factors, such as the number of grafts required, the experience
and qualifications of the surgeon, and the location of the clinic.
The number of grafts required will be determined by the extent of
hair loss and the desired level of density. A typical hair transplant
procedure involves between 1,500 and 4,000 grafts, with each graft
containing one to four hairs. The more grafts required, the higher the
cost of the procedure.
The experience and qualifications of the surgeon are also important
factors in determining the cost of hair transplant surgery. More
experienced and highly qualified surgeons may charge higher fees
due to their expertise and reputation in the field.
Finally, the location of the clinic can also impact the cost of hair
transplant surgery. Clinics located in major metropolitan areas or
popular tourist destinations may charge higher fees due to higher
overhead costs and demand for their services.
Unraveling the Cost and Process of
Hair Transplant Surgery: A
Comprehensive Guide
2. The Process of Hair Transplant Surgery
Hair transplant surgery involves several steps that are carried out
under local anesthesia:
1. Consultation: The first step in the process is a consultation with
a qualified hair transplant surgeon. During this consultation, the
surgeon will assess the extent of hair loss, determine the number
of grafts required, and discuss any potential risks or complications
associated with the procedure.
2. Preparation: Prior to the procedure, the patient's scalp will be
thoroughly cleaned and prepared for surgery. This may involve
shaving off any existing hair in the donor area (the area from which
healthy hair follicles will be harvested) to ensure a clean surface
for harvesting.
3. Harvesting: The healthy hair follicles will be harvested from the
donor area using a specialized tool called a punch biopsy
instrument or a strip excision method. The punch biopsy
instrument removes individual follicles one at a time, while the
strip excision method removes a narrow strip of skin from which
multiple follicles can be harvested at once.
3. 4. Preparation of Recipient Area: The recipient area (the area
where healthy hair follicles will be transferred) will be prepared by
making small incisions using a specialized needle called a recipient
site maker. These incisions are made at an angle that mimics
natural hair growth patterns to ensure a natural-looking result.
5. Transplantation: The harvested follicles are then transferred to
the recipient area using a specialized tool called an implanter or
forceps. The implanter is used to create small pockets in which to
place each follicle, while forceps are used to place larger clusters
of follicles (known as grafts) into these pockets.
6. Post-Operative Care: After the procedure is complete, patients
will be provided with detailed instructions on how to care for their
scalp during recovery. This may include avoiding strenuous
activity or contact sports for several weeks, avoiding smoking or
drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after surgery, and keeping
their head elevated to minimize swelling. Patients may also be
prescribed pain medication or antibiotics to manage any
discomfort or infection that may arise during recovery.
Conclusion
Hair transplant surgery is an effective solution for individuals
experiencing hair loss, but it is important to understand both the
cost and process involved before making a decision to proceed
with this procedure. By working with a qualified and experienced
surgeon and following proper post-operative care instructions,
patients can achieve natural-looking results that boost their
confidence and self-esteem.
