Universal Design aims to make spaces and curriculums inclusive for all people by considering diversity. It involves an eight step process and seven principles developed by the Center for Universal Design. Universal Design can be applied not just to physical spaces through accommodations like automatic doors and accessible bathrooms, but also to educational approaches like using multiple teaching methods, assessing students regularly, and preparing inclusive course materials.

2. Process
The Concept of Universal Design puts diversity and
inclusiveness at high value. It requires a macro and micro
view of the application to do so. The process is eight
steps, and is fairly simple.

3. Principles
The Center for Universal Design is located at North
Carolina State University and has created 7 different
principles; all can be found in school settings with
examples such as:
Safe and easy science equipment or an automatic
door

4. Application
Not only can Universal Design be applied to things like
curb cuts, bathroom stalls, doors etc. but it also can be
applied to curriculum within the classroom.
 Using multiple instructional/delivery methods
• Regularly assessing students
• Choosing printed materials/preparing a syllabus
