UNIT 1: Esthetics and Art
Jorge L. Rengifo
ESPE
1.1 Observation of Art and the art of
Observation
• A work of art teaches us to observe in a
broader and deeper way not only within art
but in a general way.
• Bertolt Brecht said that art should be
observed by all without discrimination of sex,
race, age, social class.
• Art can be interpreted in different ways by
people who may not like others.
• the individual who admires art also admires a
work, a skillful and finished work.
• To appreciate art you have to have sensitivity.
1.2 Creative abilities
• Aesthetics is the study of beauty in art and it is
an internal process
• The word art means in Latin to do, carry out
something, perform, work, that is why it is called a
work of art or a teacher.
• The materials depend on the type of art, it can be a
photographic camera, a brush, paint, stone, voice, etc.
• The artist works with his innate imaginative capacity of
the human being.
• Abstraction is to take something out, get rid of what is
simply an accessory and save only what is most
interesting
• Styling is to improve the external appearance
of a work of art by making it finer, more
beautiful.
• BACKGROUND "is used to refer to the content
presented by the work of art.
• An Artistic idea is an intellectual piece of
knowledge whose only purpose is the
beautiful shape.
1.3 Fundamental principles of artistic
work
• Theme Rhythm is then the continuous
repetition of the same element.
• Theme Unity is when a theme is joined by an
element. In this case it is the main theme.
• Variety serves so that there is no monotony.
Show the same theme in different ways
• Contrast is changing the subject. It's different
from the variety
• The total cycle: Introduction, Development,
Culmination or Climax and End
1.4 For a theory of Film –making
realization
• The cinema is a subjective art in its majority
even when it wants to be objective (historical
films) it depends on the vision of the director.
• It is cinema is an illusion of reality, that is, it is
something that does not exist.
• The human eye and the brain make believe that
the person is living this situation in real life.
• The director uses techniques to make moving
images and creates the most extraordinary
illusion that human activity could have done in
the field of signs and, in general, representation
through images.
