Present tense
 Definition-
 A tense expressing an action that is currently going
on or habitually performed or a state that currently
or generally exists.
(Oxford Dictionary)
When to use simple present tense
 The simple present tense is used:
 To refer to habits, eternal and present truths,
repeated actions or invariable situations, emotions
and wishes.
 To instruct or guide someone.
 To describe objects ,place people etc.
 To express future time, after some conjunctions
such as- after, when, before, as soon as, until etc.
Types of Present tense
 Simple present Tense
 Present Continuous/progressive tense
 Present Perfect
 Present perfect progressive
The Simple Present Tense
 We use the simple present tense when we refer to
something which is generally or always true.
 Ex-
 Oil is lighter than water.
 The sun rises in the east.
 Our heart pumps blood.
 Computer stores large amount of data.
The Simple Present tense
 Is used to show habitual activity
 Ex-
 I brush my teeth.
 She eats her lunch.
 He takes bath.
 Children love chocolates.
The Simple present Tense
 It is used to show present truths-
 Ex-
 Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra.
 I stay with my parents.
 She works in a software company.
The Simple Present Tense
 It is used to describe object places and people
 A rice cooker is a kitchen appliance which is
designed to cook rice, through either boiling or
steaming it.
 Mobile phone is a portable telephone that connects
with the telephone network over radio wave
transmission.
 Nagpur is the third largest city and the winter
capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra.
