Rene Magritte was a Belgian artist born in 1898 who painted in a surrealist style. He began painting in 1910 after his mother committed suicide. Some of his most famous paintings include Golconde, which depicts a man with a large head, Apple Face showing a man with an apple covering his face, and An A Big Eye featuring a large eye against the sky. Magritte explored themes of ordinary objects in unusual contexts through his unique and thought-provoking paintings.
