(From a few talks I did in 2011. v1.2)
Typography 101 – A Beginner's Guide to All Things TypeNimble Kettle
This document provides a beginner's guide to typography. It defines typography as the art and technique of arranging type. It explains the difference between a typeface, which is a family of fonts, and a font, which includes all characters in every size and style of a typeface. It also outlines basic type classifications including serif, sans-serif, slab serif, script, and monospace. Additionally, it defines important typographic terms like tracking, kerning, and leading and illustrates the anatomy of letters.
The document provides five typography tips for better user experience (UX): 1) Use whitespace to increase readability by 20%, 2) Keep line length between 45-90 characters, 3) Provide sufficient color contrast between text and background, 4) Use large, easily readable fonts, and 5) Select fonts that are simple and clear like Arial.
The document discusses the growing trend of using content management systems (CMS) in online higher education. It states that CMS are increasingly being used to manage online courses and integrate online elements into physical classes. This is due to rising demand for online courses from students and the need for schools to deliver course content online. The document also provides examples of popular CMS like Blackboard and Moodle and predicts that CMS and online education will continue growing together in the future.
SVSU implemented a new content management system (CMS) called Terminal Four over 12 months from issuing a request for proposal (RFP) to launch. They analyzed needs, issued an RFP, selected Terminal Four, planned the project, migrated over 6,000 pages of content, and trained editors on the new system. Key lessons learned included allowing extra time for migration, anticipating broken forms and search, and having content owners review migrated pages for accuracy before launch. The new CMS improved consistency, accountability, and decoupled publishing to prevent losing live content again.
The document summarizes the University of Alberta's transition from an in-house content management system to Sitecore. It describes the existing CMS as outdated with scalability and flexibility issues. An RFP process was conducted, with Sitecore, Oracle, and RedDot emerging as finalists. Sitecore was ultimately selected for its flexibility, customizability, and scalability. The implementation occurred from 2008-2009. From 2010-2012, efforts focused on rebranding, reorganizing, and fully redesigning and rebuilding the new Sitecore-powered website based on user feedback. Analytics tools were also implemented to better measure site usage.
The document appears to be a presentation containing various charts and graphs about television viewership data across multiple channels and time periods. It includes line charts showing average audience sizes in thousands from 2010-2014 for various summer weeks. It also has pie charts depicting audience share percentages among different channels. Finally, there are bar graphs comparing 16-34 ad viewership and household viewership plus children for September 2011.
This document appears to be a PowerPoint presentation for a company called Epsilon. It includes sections on the company's history, services, team, projects/case studies, analysis, and portfolio. The presentation utilizes mostly placeholder text and images as it is intended as a template or example format for a company to customize with their own information.
