ABOUT US
Founded in 1982, Tyler Packaging is a specialist
supplier of high quality printed flexible packaging
to the Food, Pet Food, Horticultural, Agricultural and
Pharmaceutical industries.
Through continuous product development, the
company is able to offer a comprehensive range
of films, pre-made bags, pouches and sacks which
encompasses the most up to date production and
materials technology.
We believe that successful sales begin with quality
and, for many years now, we have been supplying
laminated and surface printed films with eight
colour digital Flexographic printing and ten colour
Rotogravure printing. All of our products are produced
in accordance with the BRC/IoP Standard for Food
Grade Packaging, as well as those of ISO 9001,
ISO14001 and ISO 22000.
We know how important our product is to customers
if they are to succeed with their own marketing and
sales. That is why we always offer the latest technical
advances in packaging materials, design and visual
impact. The right promotional ideas, put together with
our original packaging, ensure your products stand out
from those of your competitors.
Our online portal enables clients to access information
on stocks held on their behalf at our warehouse,
as well as information on the status of outstanding
orders. Orders can be placed on this system at any
time. Our modern warehouse facility has storage
capacity for 4000 pallets and is located five minutes
from the motorway network. This enables fast delivery
of goods called off from our stocks, normally within
24-48 hours.

Flat Base Pouches are side-gusseted pouches with five
main panels for product branding. Made from laminated
co-extruded films, they have good strength and visual
impact. Due to having a true flat bottom, they offer good
product stability and presentation on shelf.

Woven PP Laminated sacks are puncture and weather resistant
and are available in a wide range of sizes in two main formats:
sewn bottom and block bottom.
They are mainly used as large format 5kg
upwards and are immensely strong as
they were originally developed to avoid
breakages during shipping raw materials.
The market has developed and now these
sacks are offered with Rotogravure print in
up to 10 colours, offering excellent visual
appearance making these packs more
popular in the retail sector.

Milpac sacks are designed for use in applications where fast venting during
filling is required. The design is such that the sacks can easily be filled with
fine powders at high speed. Unlike a conventional valve sack, these sacks are
made from two plies of polythene which give the sack greater resistance to
bursting. Offset microperforations in the two plies enable air to vent from
the sack during filling but prevent the powder from escaping.
The sacks are produced in a variety of sizes with
modified polymers which lower the melt temperature
of the film. This technology enables the product to be
used as a batch inclusive sack and is of particular use in
applications where fine powders such as road marking
paint or tyre manufacturing require the addition of
powdered materials to be included in the production
process. The sacks are designed to melt and homogenise
with the powder during the heating process which
eliminates the problem of powder escaping into the air.

OPEN MOUTH PASTED BLOCK
BOTTOM SACKS (OMPBB)
Used in a variety of industries, this
sack design is convenient for ease
of filling as it can stand during the
filling process. Once filled, it is very
stable enabling easy top closure
either by stitching or gluing. A block
bottom design sack containing a
Z-folded polythene liner, this sack design is ideal for
powdered products and used extensively by milk
powder producers. These sacks are available with a tear-
off bottom patch which enables removal of the inner
polythene bag, emptying the powder without the need
to use metal tools such as Stanley knives to open the
sack. The bottom patch can be removed without tearing
the paper, thus preventing any chance of contamination
of the milk powder by paper fibres. Complete separation
of the polythene liner from the paper plies of the sack
means that recycling is an easy process.

of 210mm width. We produce
valve sacks with integrated
handles suitable for point-of-sale
applications, sacks with a sewn
bottom and a valved top and sacks with a tear-out base
for ease of emptying. We offer Thermionic valve sacks
suitable for use with filling lines equipped with this
sealing technology. Particularly useful for cementation
products sold in retail outlets where leakage presents
a problem, these sacks provide a leak-proof seal at the
valve. Our sacks are suitable for use with high speed
filling lines such as the Haver and Boecker Rotopacker.

LINED SACKS
Paper lined sacks are used in
applications that specify minimal
ingress of water or water vapour onto
the product in the sack and/or no light
penetration. These sacks have a hot
melt top and are pinch bottom. Paper
lined sacks are manufactured using
the same production techniques as
foil lined sacks. This design is used in the food processing
and chemical industries. Hot melt top closures are
normally utilised in these sacks. Polylined sacks can be
produced with loose Z-fold liners or glued-in liners.

clay coated papers with full process printing up to 10 colours,

Colour Management
Certain brand images are iconic. When you think about Coca-Cola or
McDonalds, immediately a colour image comes to mind. Colour enhances
and identifies a brand and thus sublimely influences the buying decision.
Research has shown that choosing the right colours for your packaging
is as important as the product itself in terms of influencing the buyer in
making a choice. To control colour is key in the world of flexible packaging.
From the colours chosen by the design house and the brand owner to
the finished product on the shelf, they should remain constant from the
inception of the design to the finished product on shelf. To ensure this is
achieved, the colours must be measured and checked throughout the
work flow process. This is why Tyler Packaging and our partners have
implemented the X-rite colour management system.
In conjunction with our reprographics and design house partners, we
have installed the X-rite system on our Gravure and Flexo presses. This
ensures that colours can be managed, checked and recorded accurately
at every point in the artwork to print process. Recent feedback from some
of our customers has been extremely positive, particularly regarding the
consistency between print runs on colour accuracy. We firmly believe that
this is the only way to achieve the consistent brand colours that today’s
customers demand.
Digital Printing
This process is ideal for very short run printing and is available in
print widths of up to 450mm. The arrival of digital print technology
means we can print without the need for plates enabling high quality
printed film to be produced very quickly.

PRODUCTION TECH: PRINTING AND LAMINATING
We offer both Flexographic and Rotogravure printing and can print up
to 1.45 metres wide and a repeat length of 1150mm in up to 10 colours
process. Digital control of our printing presses ensures consistent
colour management. We can print utilising high definition Flexo plates
incorporating flat top dot technology which greatly increases visual
impact. Our Rotogravure presses are capable of printing up to 10
colours, 1200mm wide and up to 900mm repeat length which enables
reproduction of the most complex designs. Solvent-free and water-
based lamination are available, up to a four layer structure (Quadraplex)
in the following structures: PET / Metallised PET / BOPP / Metallised
BOPP / CPP / OPA / PE / EVOH / ALU Foil.
Flexographic
High quality process Flexographic printing, utilising the latest design
of gearless presses in up to 10 colours, is available. We can also print
using the latest technology High Definition Flexo plates. This new
development elevates the quality of our Flexographic printing closer
to the standards achievable with Rotogravure. Please go to the‘Design’
section for more information about High Definition Printing.
Rotogravure
Rotogravure printing in up to 10 colours gives superlative results.
Modern computer controlled laser engraving has resulted in
origination costs that are much closer to those of digital Flexo. Various
inline options are available such as printing on both sides of the film or
cold seal application.

PRODUCTION TECH: EXTRUSION
With a large array of the latest technology blown film extrusion lines,
we can extrude tubular film up to 16 metres in diameter. All our films
are produced internally to guarantee both the quality and complete
control over the production process. Co-extrusion from three layers
up to seven layers is available, enabling us to provide films with
excellent barrier properties. Film construction utilising EVOH / OPA /
PP is used in many applications in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical
and construction industries where barrier properties are an essential
requirement.

conversion machinery, and we are able to offer finished products in a

Our products are made in accordance with PAFA voluntary standards
and our procedures are in accordance with ISO 9001 practices. At our
manufacturing sites and our distribution warehouse, products are
tested and procedures followed in accordance with both ISO and BRC
standards. Physical properties of tensile strength, co-efficient of friction,
impact resistance, colour standards of the substrates and printing and
packaging requirements, where these are critical, are examined. We
hold the BRC/IoP and ISO 22000 Food Grade Certificates, as well as the
ISO 9001 Quality Standard and the ISO 14000 Environmental Standard.
Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures enable us to deliver
consistent product quality to our customers, irrespective of the
number and size of individual orders.

The Tyler extranet enables our customers to gain real time access to
stocks held at distribution 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, it
enables customers to check the progress of current products on order,
status of that order, and due dates. It can also incorporate a forecast
based system. Purchase Orders sent to us during normal working hours
ensure that goods in stock at our warehouse are prepared for despatch
immediately.
Purchase Orders raised outside these hours or at weekends will be
despatched the next working day. Our web ordering system will also
advise buyers by email as soon as stock levels have dropped below
agreed re-order levels for any product line.
