A detailed, step-by-step tutorial on making a glowing edges text effect in Canva. This is a workaround since at the time of this writing, it is not possible yet to directly apply effects on texts in Canva.

1. CANVA HACK
HOW TO MAKE
GLOWING EDGES
TEXT EFFECT

2. Log in to your
Canva account

3. Click "Create a
design" & select
a template

4. Click the "Text" button

5. Click "Add a heading"

6. Click the font button

7. In the search box, type the
theme of the font you want &
press Enter/Return

8. Choose a bold font &
click on it

9. Double-click on
the text & type
your own text

10. Click the text color
button

11. Choose a slightly light
color & click on it

12. Click the "Download"
button

13. Under "File type"
select PNG

14. Tick "Transparent
background"

15. Click the
"Download"
button

16. Click "OK"

17. Select a file location,
type any file name &
click "Save"

18. Click "Continue editing"

19. Click the text color
button

20. Now choose a dark
color from the pallette

21. Click the "Uploads"
button

22. Click "Upload an image
or video"

23. Browse for the file you
downloaded earlier, click
on it then click "Open"

24. From the left pane,
click on the newly
uploaded image

25. While the newly
added image is
selected, right-
click on it

26. Click "Bring
Forward"

27. Click the small
white bar at the
top of the image
& drag it closer to
the text

28. Do the same to
the other 3 white
bars

29. Drag the image to
the upper left
corner of the text

30. Drag the lower
right corner of
the image to
make its size the
same as the text

31. Now drag the
image to align it
with the text

32. While the image is
selected, click "Adjust"

33. At the left
pane, set
the value of
"Blur" to 8

34. Set the
value of
"Brightness"
to 14

35. Set the
value of
"Contrast"
to 20

36. Set the
value of
"Saturation"
to 30

37. Right-click on the
image & click "Send
Backward"

38. While the image is still
selected, press & hold the
Shift key then click on the text

39. Click "Group"

40. Now click "Photos"

41. At the search bar, type the
theme of the photo you want
then press Enter/Return

42. Select a background photo &
click on it

43. Resize the photo to your liking
by dragging the small white
bars

44. Right-click on the photo then
click "Send Backward"

45. Now you have your glowing
edges text effect!
