The National Library of Turkey is located in central Ankara and contains approximately 250,000 books and unique manuscripts available for users to access. Founded in 1946 by Adnan Ötüken, it first opened to users in 1948 and moved to its current building in 1983. The library is open most days of the week and hosts lectures and concerts, while also serving as one of the world's first established national libraries where a copy of all published materials must be sent.
