Group TTMD discusses the issue of universal suffrage in Hong Kong. Hong Kongers want the right to directly elect their own chief executive, but Beijing limits this right. To fight for universal suffrage, in 2014 thousands of university students went on strike and joined the Umbrella Revolution. They occupied central Hong Kong for over two months to pressure Beijing to allow universal suffrage. Other efforts included student strikes across schools and conversations with government leaders, but these did not succeed in solving the universal suffrage problem. The presentation outlines both the benefits and potential harms of universal suffrage.
2. Introduction
Hi everyone. We are group TTMD. And in this slideshow,
we are going to talk the the Universal Suffrage problem in
Hong Kong. Hong Kong true universal suffrage is about the
Hong Kongers want to vote their own Chief Executive
(leader) himself. For this goal Hong Kong people create the
Alliance for True Democracy Meeting every Wednesday .
Union elections really the peak of a total of 27 pro-
democracy lawmakers in the Legislative Council.

universal suffrage

universal suffrage, all of the universities students they strike
and join the umbrella revolution, there are three people who
initiate it. And they start occupy central that's how the
umbrella revolution start, the aim of the umbrella revolution is
to paralysis Hong Kong political can economic center, forcing
Beijing to change its position let Hong Kong allow universal
suffrage.
4. How do people try solve the
Universal Suffrage Problem
People used these way to try to solve the
problem.
-Occupy Central
-Student Strike
-Conversation with the Chief Secretary of
Administration
5. Solution 1 - Occupy Central
Occupy Central was happened from the 26th
september to the 15th December. In these
days, there was about 1 million people who
stayed at Central for more than 2 months. It
was started by the students. And it was
stopped by the police at last.
6. Solution 2 - Student’s Strike
When the university students was staying in
Central, there were students in different school
have a strike. Lots of students didn’t go to
school or haven’t participated their lessons. In
CSS, there is a few days that people didn’t go
to their lessons to support the university
students.

Chief Secretary of Administration
They (Chu Yiu Ming, Benny Tai Yiu Ting, Chan Kin Man)
had a conversation with Chief Secretary of Administration,
Carrie Lam. They tried to discussed agreement and work
on it but it didn’t work out at last. First because they want to
discuss with the Chief Executive at the beginning. And they
don’t think that Carrie Lam show sincerity to them so they
failed to continue the discusstion.
8. Benefit of Universal Suffrage
Universal Suffrage can let people has their own
choice to choose anyone to be the
president.we all have our own voice and we
can choose who we want to lead us and who
we think will benefit us the most.it is about
people power and ther liberty.
9. Harm of Universal Suffrage
There still has some bad things about Universal
Suffrage. It is more diffcult to make everybody
happy because if everybody votes a person to
be president, but i dont vote for that person. i
won’t really be happy if he becomes
president.while everybody has choices it
means that not everybody will get what they
want.
