Synopsis (Lyrics)
Ron is in his early twenties and everything in life is currently brilliant for him, until he finds his
girlfriend’s suitcases and her university prospectus in her bedroom. Ron didn’t know that his
girlfriend was planning to go to university. Because of this an argument breaks out and Ron
and Roxie split up as Roxie doesn’t feel that their relationship will be able to work long-
distance.
Ron has a breakdown after seeing the love of his life walk away from him and then turns to
alcohol and drugs. His whole life becomes controlled by drugs and alcohol as he constantly
tries to fill the hole left by Roxie. His life spins out of control and he ends up drinking alone on
buses, pubs and park benches and on his own in his bedroom surrounded by empty beer
bottles and the remnants of the drugs he has been through. He tries to carry on his social life
by going out with his friends but it isn’t the same and he always ends up on his own at the
parties they attend. The only bit of happiness he can now find is at the bottom of a beer bottle.
Ronnie continues to get worse, beginning to separate from his group of friends and becoming
more and more lonely leading to him being isolated from everyone. After a troubling break up
he decides to find ways to distract him from thinking about Roxie, the door then slams on
Ronnie’s bedroom and then fades to black.

The lyrics hint to us about his girlfriend leaving for university and him being
distraught about this by the line ‘I blamed it on my ex who went to university and I
lost her’.
He talks about the sun being lost, we have concluded the sun to be his heart, due to
him speaking about his loss of his girlfriend and not wanting to give it to anyone. ‘To
keep it for myself, not for anybody else’.

The song is revolved around a narrative which we as a group have pulled out of the
lyrics, showing a more literal meaning than an underlying meaning. However the
story is revolved around his loss of his girlfriend which the lyrics do not say.

1- Performance. – He concluded that performance videos were most common.
2- Narrative.

‘He said that performance mainly defines itself by images of artists singing and

depressed, for example a field, bedroom, pub, party and finally park benches.

Costumes will be typical indie clothes, representing the genre making it easier for the
audience to notice.
Props will be empty beer cans, cigarette packets etc… showing how drunk he is and
how he’s upset.

Black and white effects when he loses his girlfriend at the beginning, showing his
pain and the loss of the ‘sun’. However the sun and light are there when he is with
her – showing his strong passion for her.
