Overview of components to consider when designing transmedia experiences. Builds on our design process to iterate playable media bringing together Story + Play + Digital + Live.
This document outlines descriptive dimensions for designing mobile media and pervasive media projects. It provides a template with 9 descriptive categories to characterize a project's activity, place, equipment, content, media mode, genre, affect, sociality, and skills. Descriptive dimensions are also defined that can be used to further describe a project, such as levels of immersion, user control, and relation to space/place.
This document discusses building interactive experiences outside of screens. It notes that interactive museums and installations provide environmental experiences people can try. The document advocates designing flexible interactive projects through iterative development and releases to build upon learnings. It suggests applying these lessons in software development by focusing on the user's experience with their environment and emotions, rather than just technology or performance.
Mapmyconnections.com allows users to login with their LinkedIn account to view an interactive world map showing the geographic locations of their connections. The map displays dots representing each connection that can be hovered over for more details, giving users a visual representation of their network's global reach and allowing virtual visits to connections' locations.
The Big Dig was the largest and most complex highway project in US history, intended to solve Boston's traffic problems and reconnect downtown to waterfront towns. It involved constructing 7.8 miles of highway with 161 lanes miles through tunnels under the city. Over 22 billion was spent excavating over 16 million cubic yards of soil and pouring 3.8 million cubic yards of concrete with 5,000 workers. The project faced construction issues like leaks in the tunnel from faulty fixtures that killed one person, and cost overruns increased the price from $2.6 to $22 billion with taxpayers paying half.
In our conventional electronic devices we use semi conducting materials for logical operation and magnetic materials for storage, but spintronics uses magnetic materials for both purposes. These spintronic devices are more versatile and faster than the present one. One such device is Spin Valve Transistors (SVT).
Spin valve transistor is different from conventional transistor. In this for conduction we use spin polarization of electrons. Only electrons with correct spin polarization can travel successfully through the device. These transistors are used in data storage, signal processing, automation and robotics with less power consumption and results in less heat. This also finds its application in Quantum computing, in which we use Qubits instead of bits.
Thunderbolt is a hardware interface developed by Intel that allows high-speed connection of external devices to computers. It uses the Mini DisplayPort connector and provides 10Gbps of bandwidth per channel, with two channels supported. Originally intended to use optical cabling, it was found copper could provide the necessary bandwidth at lower cost. Thunderbolt supports daisy-chaining of up to six devices and can transmit both data and video over a single cable using PCIe and DisplayPort protocols. It has advantages over USB 3.0 such as higher speed and lower latency. Future versions of Thunderbolt are planned to provide even higher speeds.

A Stratellite is a type of satellite that is stationed in the stratosphere at an altitude of about 13 miles, rather than in orbit. It can provide clear communications coverage to an entire metropolitan area as well as rural areas. Stratellites are airships that carry payloads and communication equipment. They can remain stationary in the stratosphere for long periods of time, providing services like broadband internet, cell phone, and television coverage to millions of users simultaneously. Stratellites have advantages over traditional satellites in that they are cheaper to launch and maintain, and can provide continuous coverage from the stratosphere for up to a year at a time.
This document discusses different types of steganalysis algorithms used to detect hidden messages embedded in digital files such as images, audio, and video. It describes specific steganalysis algorithms designed for certain embedding techniques as well as generic algorithms that can be applied broadly. Specific image steganalysis algorithms are discussed for formats like GIF, BMP, and JPEG. Audio steganalysis targets techniques like low-bit encoding, phase coding, spread spectrum coding, and echo hiding. Video steganalysis uses a framework with watermark attack and pattern recognition stages.
Digital cinema refers to the digital distribution and projection of films in theaters. It has largely replaced traditional film print distribution. The key components of a digital cinema include a satellite or fiber optic transmission system, a projector using digital light processing (DLP) technology, and a theater management system. Digital cinema provides benefits like reduced costs, higher image quality, and more flexible scheduling compared to traditional film prints. However, digital formats also carry higher piracy risks. Digital cinema technology continues to evolve with higher resolution 3D, 4D and even 5D experiences in development.
A Comprehensive Study of Class D Amplifier TechnologyTodd Marco
This paper aims to provide a comprehensive technical overview of Class D audio amplifier operation and design. The fundamentals are presented with a focus on conceptual clarity rather than mathematical rigor. The main components of this technology, including modulation scheme, topology, and output stage, are discussed in detail. Important characteristics such as efficiency, distortion, and EMI are also thoroughly covered. Additionally, feedback control and robustness are discussed, and an effort is made throughout the paper to demonstrate the interconnections between the various aspects of Class D design.
