Overview of the Organization
The Electricity Directorate was established in 1947 in order to
plan and improve power supply situation of the country.
EPWAPDA was created in 1959. After the independence in
1972 âWAPDAâ was divided into âBangladesh Power
Development Board (BPDB)â and âBangladesh Water
Development Board (BWDB)â by the Presidential Order 59
(PO-59). All the created companies from BPDB are now
working as a subsidiary company under Bangladesh Power
Development Board.
