1. INTRODUCTION
My training was carried out at the architecture department of “Creative Outline Design
Company” in Iraq, Erbil. The purpose of the training was to provide me with the opportunity to
practice various engineering principles in the real world, particularly in Architectural field.
During this training course, I had the chance to be introduced to new architectural programs and
interfaces that I have not been practiced on before. During the eight weeks of training, I managed
to deal with designing a Residential Project composed of 24 high-rise buildings with their
facilities, from floor plans to 3-D visualization to interior design. The key Elements I took away
from my training were acquiring new skills in communication, working as a team and interacting
with customers.

3. MAJOR WORK ASSIGNMENTS
Throughout my eight weeks of training, I worked on “Henk Residential Project”, which is
located on a 75,000 sqm land near Maseef Road, Erbil City. Site’s strength was its location near
Family Mall, Erbil International Airport and Sami Abdrahman Park.
Total land area: 75,000 sqm
Total construction area: 341,048 sqm
It included 24 residential buildings with total number of 2080 flats, 5 commercial buildings, 6
service buildings, underground and open car parking for overall 2543 cars.
I could summarize the assignments in phases as mentioned below:
Phase 1: At the beginning I was assigned to design the master plan of the residential compound
using AutoCAD Program. After being edited according to the supervisor’s notes and client’s
vision, the master plan was finalized and modified using Photoshop Program.
Phase 2: Included providing basic alternatives for 2-dimensional floor plan using AutoCAD
Program. This phase included designing horizontal and vertical circulation in the core, in
addition the existence of fire-escape staircase, mechanical room, elevators and staircase. Each
alternative should have different flat types (1+1, 2+1, and 3+1 flats), areas and views. After
being edited according to the supervisor’s notes and client’s vision, the floor plan was finalized
and furnished using Revit Program.
Phase 3: Included providing alternatives for 3-dimensional models using 3D Max Program, in
order to demonstrate different elevations to get the client’s approval upon. Designing elevations
was using 3D Max (Vray Renderer).
Phase 4: Model the master plan using 3D Max Program in order to take scenes through the
project.
Phase 5: Design the Interior of buildings using 3D Max Program (Vray Renderer).

4. TRAINEE’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HOST ORGANIZATION
I believe that throughout the training period I had the opportunity to practice the real world
Architecture Engineering field in Creative Design; in return I gave the optimum of ideas and
designs from which I learned and practiced in university. This chance of interchange between
experiences and thoughts made me provide a vast of designs and ideas for this project. In
addition, since I am a foreigner, I tried to share my local architectural language and style with the
Iraqi-Turkish style and had the opportunity to learn more from them, too.

5. SUMMARY
This training course was very useful in advancing my understanding of the engineering
profession. I learned more about the technical and non-technical elements present in any
engineering organization, I benefited from team work gaining more skills, and I got introduced to
new useful programs and tools. To add more, my performance was enhanced and my skills were
developed. All in all it has been a great experience that I would not regret to repeat some other
time. I recommend Creative Design to my colleagues in Jordan University.
