3. HISTORY OF THE PORT
ALPORT has been established during the years of
117 and 119 BC by carving the rocks on place. A
port and a quay had been started to be
constructed on the old quay area by Hasan Pasha
and this port has been completed in 1903. Over
time the port was modernized. the construction
works, which has started in 1980, was completed
in 1990 and the port was brought into its current
state.

7. PORT OWNERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
TYPE
The operational rights of the Alport for the
duration of 30 years has been taken over on
21.11.2003 by Trabzon Port Operations INC,
which is affiliated company of ALBAYRAK
Group, as the tender that was opened by the
Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry
Privatisation Administration, was awarded
to the company.
The Port of Trabzon has been taken over (as
the operational rights) for 30 year duration
from the Republic of Turkey Privatisation
Administration on 22nd November 2003.

Alport is located between North 4057’
30’’ latitude and East 40 02’ 30’’
longitude and North 41 06’ 36’’ and
East39 25’ 00’’ longitude. In other
words, it is situated within the line that
is drawn towards the North
direction between the Narlik foreland
on East and the Isikli foreland on West
and the coastline that is bordered with
the Turkish Territorial Waters.

In Alport, port tariff rates change
according to customers. So, there
is not any fixed price. Operation
costs are determined by the
types of cargo and the properties
of cargo.
21. Alport is the transit trade centre of the
world. Also Alport is the most economic
route that connect the main trade
routes of Asia and Europe on Ro-Ro, dry
bulk, and container transportation.
Therefore; Alport is the easiest and
shortest route to Iran, Iraq, Republics of
Turkish, Russia, Ukraine, the Balkans
and Europe.
