First driverless cardemonstration in Japan ● Nissan Motor Co. is exhibiting its autonomous driving technology for the first time in Japan at CEATEC Japan 2013, taking place at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture. ● Equipped with autonomous driving technology ● Artificial intelligence reads “the movements of other cars” ● The autonomous driving car will demonstrate how it can easily read the movements of others on the road using its stored intelligence, in order to perform such decisions like when to stop and wait and when to continue driving.

- 7. Tohoku Region - northeasternregion of Japan's main island (Honshu) the largest island of Japan The region consists of six prefectures(ben) - Aomori - Akita - Iwate - Yamagata - Miyagi - Fukushima
- 8. ● The areawas historically known as the Michinoku region or province ● The Tohoku Region is famed for it's magnificent summer festivals ● Has hilly or mountainous geographical appearance ● In the 20th century, tourism became a major industry in this region ● The region is traditionally known as a less developed area of Japan ● It is well known for its countryside, mountains, lakes, hot springs, high quality rice and rough winters. ● The rural Tohoku accent, known as “zūzū-ben” for its characteristic feature of turning all "s" sounds into "z" Tohoku Region

Food ● Tohoku foodtends to be strong flavoured and salty and the area is famous for its pickles ● Sansai-ryōri - prepared from herbs and plants harvested from the forests and hillsides ● Rice from Tohoku is also famous, with Miyagi's sasanishik ● Akita's Akita-komachi rice being the flagship varieties. ● Yamagata is famed for beef, and beef tongue is a specialty of Sendai. ● Akita is best known for kiritanpo, a hot pot with pounded rice and a chicken stock ● Tohoku is sake country and manufactures some fine rice wines.

Akita Prefecture ● AkitaPrefecture is located along the Sea of Japan Coast in the Tohoku region in the north eastern part of the island of Honshu. ● The capital city of Akita Prefecture is Akita city. ● Akita Prefecture is famous for its Onsen (hot springs) particularly around the picturesque Lake Tazawa. ● The old town of Kakunodate, which is sometimes referred to as Little Kyoto ● Akita's economy dominated by traditional industries, such as agriculture, fishing, and forestry

Aomori Prefecture ● Duringthe Meiji Restoration, the area of Aomori prefecture was known as Mutsu Province. ● Located at the north end of Honshu in the Tohoku region. ● The capital of Aomori Prefecture is Aomori City, which is major point of interconnection between the island of Honshu and the island of Hokkaido to the north via the Seikan Tunnel. ● The major attractions of Aomori Prefecture include museums, the Hakkoda Mountains, which are a popular hiking location and the many Onsen. ● Largest producer of apples and prides itself on its production quality.

Iwate Prefecture ● IwatePrefecture is located in northern Honshu on the eastern coastline. ● The capital of Iwate Prefecture is Morioka ● Iwate is famous for the Hiraizumi Temples, Gardens and Archaeological Sites Representing the Buddhist Pure Land which are World Heritage Sites. ● Iwate Prefecture is the second largest Japanese Prefecture by area and the second lowest population density on any Japanese Prefecture. ● The coastal areas of Iwate Prefecture were badly damaged by the March 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and subsequent tsunami.

Yamagata Prefecture ● Yamagatacity is the capital ● Yamagata Prefecture covers the area from the coast of the Sea of Japan in the west to the mountains midway across the island of Honshu in the Tohoku region. ● Yamagata Prefecture attractions include the famous Risshakuji Temple, world class skiing on Mt. Zao and many Onsen (hot springs). ● A largest producer of fruits such as grapes, apples, peaches, melons, persimmons and watermelons ● The temple of Yama-dera, carved into the mountainside near the city of Yamagata, is a major attraction.

Miyagi Prefecture ● Thecapital of Miyagi Prefecture is Sendai. ● Miyagi Prefecture is famous for having one of the Three Most Scenic Views of Japan, Matsushima. ● The total land area of the prefecture was designated as Natural Parks, ● The some of the coastal areas of Miyagi Prefecture were badly damaged by the March 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and subsequent tsunami, however Matsushima and central Sendai City only suffered minor damage. ● On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a subsequent major tsunami hit Miyagi Prefecture, causing major damage to the area

- 20. Fukushima Prefecture ● Theprefecture of Tōhoku region that is closest to Tokyo. It is divided by mountain ranges into three regions called (from west to east) Aizu, Nakadōri (central), and Hamadōri (coastal). ● Coastal region traditionally specializes in fishing and seafood industries, and is notable for its electric and particularly nuclear power-generating industry ● Fukushima Prefecture has over 100 hot springs, which is the largest number of hot springs in Japan. ● People enjoy eating delicious buckwheat noodles and traditional folk dishes in many places of Fukushima Prefecture.

Fukushima Daiichi nucleardisaster Fukushima Dai-ichi - was an energy accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, initiated primarily by the tsunami of the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011. The damage caused by the tsunami produced equipment failures, and without this equipment a Loss of Coolant It is the largest nuclear disaster since the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 and the second disaster (along with Chernobyl)
