• In the title sequence of Se7en the backing track used generates an
eerie feeling as the sequence gives a sense that the killer is being
watched, highlighting the psychopathic thrill that the film
demonstrates.
• The screams implies a sense of danger and a helpless aura
emphasising the genre of the film.

3. Editing/ Visual Style
• The use of filtering using black colours makes the screen appear dirty,
showing that what the man is doing is wrong this makes viewer feel
uneasy, creating a nauseous feeling, once again emphasising the
thrilling genre.
• The main colour scheme used throughout the title sequence is black
and white, black and white are very plain colours which make the title
sequence appear very dark and eerie – clearly suggesting to the viewer
that this film will be a horror.

various objects that you would find in a homely environment, leading the
viewer to believe that its set in a house
• But the viewer isn’t entirely sure of the setting of the film, therefore creating
tension.

• In the sequence there is many close ups of mysterious happenings and
objects, one of the most significant being the character removing the
fingerprints of his hand with a razor blade – this clearly emphasises to the
viewer that the man is a psychopath and that in this thing its going to be a
psychopathic thriller.
• By not being able to see the full scene, only minor objects builds tension for
the viewer as they are unsure of what is happening and it makes them feel
uneasy. It also covers the characters face emphasising the mystery.

• All the scenes in the title sequence emphasise that this is a psychopathic
thriller as they are all quite sadistic activities.
• In one of the scenes it shows the man blacking out, writing and highlighting
words which blocks or signifies information to the viewer creating a mystery
and tension as the viewer isn’t fully aware of what is occurring, which is
something that audiences don’t like.
