Tim Dyet's slide tips

Editor's Notes

  • #3 Feel free to have some space on your slide.
  • #4 Don’t cover your slide with a ton of bullets and sentences
  • #5 Every slide doesn’t need to have spinning effects and flying text, it gets distracting.
  • #6 While using images, making sure they have high quality makes them look better when blown up onto a projector and also give the audience the thought that you actually care what they are looking at.
  • #7 A constant visual theme is a must but never use powerpoint templates. They quickly get repetitive and you lose interest over time.
  • #8 Use correct and simple charts. Don’t have a chart that is overbearing with data. People may lose interest in what you are trying to explain while they decipher the chart.
  • #9 Use color wisely, never stick to the same bland color. Keep some variation to please the eye.
  • #10 Some fonts a very unreadable like wingdings. Use font that is easy to read such as Sans Serif!
  • #11 Use audio and video in your presentation. You don’t need a link, now a days you can insert the video right into your power point.
  • #12 Make sure your slides are in a logical order. Keeping a steady flow of information to your audience so they spend less time trying to connect the dots during your presentation.
