Tillandsia air plants, also known as air plants, are a genus of over 650 species of flowering plants native to parts of North and South America. Air plants do not require soil to grow, instead deriving water and nutrients from the air and atmosphere through their leaves. They can be mounted on objects like shells, bark, or other surfaces. To care for air plants, they should be misted with water two to three times per week in summer and every two weeks in cooler weather, kept in indirect sunlight, and occasionally sprayed with organic fertilizer. Air plants are commonly used for ornamental decor due to their unique ability to thrive without soil.
