Three Business sectors
There are three different business sectors within business and
each sector is reliant amongst the other.
Primary sector
Secondary sector and
Tertiary/service sector
Primary sector
This is the first sector in which raw material is got and it
includes fishing, mining and forestry.
Industries in this sector are cutting of trees, mining for gold, fish
farming etc.
Secondary sector
In this sector the raw material ( wood, coal, sugar cane etc.) that
was extracted from the ground is now processed into a
consumable goods that the customers can buy.
This is also to say that the secondary sector takes what was
taken out of the primary sector and does more with it. For
example, the fish is then processed tinned fish; the gold that was
mined is then changed into all types of jewelry and the wood that
was cut is converted to furniture, papers and other forms of
wood products.
Tertiary sector
This sector provided services such as retail services that sells
products which were manufactured from the secondary sector,
entertainment or financial services.
Examples of businesses in this sector are financial institutions,
cinemas, education etc.
All the businesses in the world belongs to either one of the three
sectors
Although these sectors operate in isolation, they are reliant on
each other. For example each product goes to through the
primary sector form there to the secondary sector until it
reaches the last sector.
