At the end of every television commercial and
under the Ankin Law logo itself, are the words:
“Injury law made personal.” What does this
mean exactly? Associate Attorney Brien DiNella
and Social Security Representative Darrell Johnson
took a few minutes recently to answer this question
with a case example.
Name
Khushbu Patel but I go by Khush
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the northwest suburb of Glendale Heights
What school did you attend for undergrad? Degree? DePaul University
College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and I got my degree in Political Science
and Psychology. I am currently a 2L at DePaul University, College of Law.
Why law?
Being Indian meant that when it came to choosing a career, I was always told
to pick one of the three (as my parents called it): Lawyer, Engineer, or Doctor.
I was awful at math and science so that left only one option of becoming
lawyer. It wasn’t until I joined the mock trial team in High School where I
really found my passion. My interest was further solidified when I got my first
law clerk position at a firm when I was 18. From then on, I knew that
becoming a lawyer was the path for me. Throughout my experiences I’ve
been able to see law in action and how law truly affects every part of our
lives. I’ve seen how powerful it is to have a greater understanding of the
intricacies within law and its impact to rectify and mitigate losses of any kind.
I feel lucky to have found a career I love so early on in my life.
Ankin Law. First impression?
My first impression was how advanced and efficient the firm is and how
genuine everyone was. Since my first day I have not once felt too scared
to ask an attorney or anyone for help or guidance.
