This Week@Ankin Law is a weekly in-house newsletter highlighting noteworthy events of the week at Chicago's injury law firm. Featured this week of February 28, 2022, are Ian Zenziper, Matt Friedman, Howard Ankin, Alex DeBrincat, Fat Tuesday, Lunch'n Learn, Scott Goldstein, Teacher of the Month, Joanna Liace, Ankin Law 25th Anniversary, and Cassy Creasy.
1. Matt and Ian secure two solid six-figure
results through mediation.
“I appreciate every opportunity to mediate a case.
Mediation is a quick and cost-efficient way to bring
a matter to resolution while avoiding the high cost of
trial and the uncertainty of a jury.
Even if a case does not resolve, I believe mediation is
worth the time and effort as you gain insight into the
defense’s position and the client learns the realities
of their case directly from a Judge.”

“For me, it’s about taking the time to be personable
with clients. Whether they are telling me about
becoming a grandparent for the first time, or about
how difficult daily tasks have been for them lately,
it becomes obvious that many people look to us just
to listen sometimes.
I’d like to think when I take the few extra minutes
to ask them questions, follow up with how they’ve
been doing, or how a family member is doing,
it has a positive impact on their overall well being
and mental health.
There’s nothing more rewarding than having a
client tell me they feel better after one of our
conversations.” - Cassie Creasy
Matt and Ian mediated two cases through ADR (Alternative Dispute
Resolution) this past week.
• One case involved a woman who sustained injuries to her neck and shoulder
(details of facts excluded due to confidentiality clause within the settlement
agreement.
• The other matter involved a woman who sustained injuries to her cervical
spine, requiring surgical intervention, after an unwitnessed slip and fall at
her apartment complex in Will County.
• Both cases had NO OFFER before mediation.
