Thinking Day is celebrated on February 22nd to honor the birthday of Lord and Lady Baden Powell, the founders of Scouting. On this day, Girl Guides, Brownies, and Scouts around the world have parties and think about helping children in poor countries stay healthy. The 2013 Thinking Day topic focuses on helping mothers and children in developing nations access clean water, adequate food, medical care, and education.

2. World Thinking Day 2013
• Is a very special day. It is the birthday of Lord
and Lady Baden Powell who set up the
Brownies and Scouts.

3. What do we do on Thinking Day?
• Brownies, Guides, Rainbows, Scouts, Beavers
and Cubs have parties all over the world to
celebrate.
• We think of all the other Brownies, Guides,
Rainbows, Scouts etc, and they think of us.
• We think about what we can do to help poor
people around the world.

4. Subject for 2013 to Think About
• Thinking about ways to help children and
mums in poor countries around the world, to
live longer and stay healthy.

5. What helps us keep healthy?
• We wash our hands so we don’t get sick.
• We get jags so we don’t get serious illnesses.
• We can visit the doctor when ill.
• We have clean water to drink and wash in and
enough food to eat.
• Children get the chance to go to school to get
an education.

6. But in some poor countries
they don’t have all this!
• There is no clean water to wash hands or drink.
• Not enough food.
• No doctor to go to when ill.
• No jags to stop serious illnesses.
• No chance to go to free school to learn how to
read and write.
