This document is a thesis submitted by Anandi Nagarajan to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Science degree in Housing, Interior Design, and Resource Management. The thesis examines the adoption of microwave ovens among a sample of older adults in Blacksburg, Virginia. It aims to identify the extent to which older adults have adopted microwave ovens based on frequency of use compared to conventional ovens and complexity of food preparation. The study also examines satisfaction with microwave ovens and future purchase intentions. A random sample of 75 adults aged 65 and older were interviewed by telephone to collect data on current microwave use patterns and decisions regarding future use and purchase.
