TCA THESIS 2024 - SYNOPSIS
Source : www.thehungrygpeg.com
• As we all know, the world is threatened by global warming. As a result, a lot of climatic changes can be seen,
like the winter getting colder and the summer getting hotter
• To reduce climate change, people must take several conscious steps towards reducing their carbon footprint.
• One way of doing this is by , we all know On the roads that there are millions of vehicles with fuel engines
(petrol and diesel), and they emit a large amount of pollution also damage health condition. so it can be
reduced by retrofication.
• it is the process of converting gasoline and diesel cars into electric vehicles.
4. TCA THESIS 2024 - SYNOPSIS
• Also, there are several policies provided to reduce pollution from vehicles; for example, "A government
panel has recommended that all diesel four-wheelers should go off the road by 2027 in a very large
number of Indian cities."
• So when people upgrade fuel engines to electric, there will be a great amount of automobile waste
generated. So it came from "scraps,"bcs the end of life of a vehicle is scrapping
• this can also be rectified by reusing through retrofication.
• And also the public is less aware of this case because they don't know about this system because, till now,
any car brand hasn't called back for retrofication. If any brand calls, then people get noticed.
• So the aim of this thesis topic is to explore a forward-thinking solution to this dilemma and proposing a
design framework that enables the seamless conversion of traditional vehicles into electric ones and also
eliminating the need for scrapping during upgrades.

6. LIVE PROJECT
DETAILS AND ITS CURRENT STATUS :
• retrofitting is the replacement of the combustion powertrain in a vehicle with an electric driveline
• This method is being extensively in Europe to convert diesel trucks and buses into zero-emission CVs as
has helped reduce carbon emissions within big cities while also reducing congestion
• The Government of India has set an ambitious target for electric vehicles(EV), alongside plans to reduce
carbon emissions via diesel and petrol engines significantly by 2030.
• In view of this, the country is taking steps towards switching to electric vehicles.
• to realize its dream of reducing carbon footprint, the country must focus on converting the existing vehicles
into 100% electric ones.
• Also Retrofitting increases the useful life span of existing vehicles by 5-7 years and would also not fall into
the new scrappage policy.
laws relating to retrofitting
• The law in India relating to retrofitting states that the installation of type-approved hybrid electric system kit
shall be done only by an installer who is authorized by the manufacturer or supplier of such kits.
• The law adds that the kit manufacturer or supplier must obtain the type approval certificate from a specified
test agency.

REDEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CRUISE SHIP
TERMINAL,KOCHI :
23. TOPIC : REDEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL
TCA THESIS 2024 - SYNOPSIS
Source : www.viator.com
• the Government of India has recognized Cruise Tourism as a potential area to build the economy of the
country.
• It has initiated a number of positive measures to promote the cruise industry in order to position India as a
global cruising destination.
• As a part of its development initiatives, it has identified the 5 major Indian ports of Mumbai, Goa, Cochin,
Mangalore, and Chennai to be developed as “world class’’ cruise terminals.
24. TOPIC : REDEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CRUIS SHIP TERMINAL
TCA THESIS 2024 - SYNOPSIS
• Cochin is one of the leading cruising destinations in the country.
• With its strategic location and proximity to the international waterways, it has the potential to become the most
preferred cruising destination globally.
• this terminal primarily handles large cruise ships exceeding 250 meters in length. While it offers basic facilities
like immigration and customs clearance, it lacks dedicated passenger amenities like waiting areas, retail
options, and entertainment.
• So this topic is a proposal to the Cochin Port Authority on an ambitious redevelopment project for the Sagarika
terminal, aiming to transform it into a world-class cruise destination.which consist of :
• Expansion of the terminal: Doubling the passenger handling capacity.
• Enhanced infrastructure: Upgrading immigration and customs facilities, baggage handling systems, and
passenger amenities.
• Development of surrounding area: Constructing hotels, exhibition centers, recreational facilities, and
wellness centers.
KEY WORDS
• Sustainable Architecture
• Art and Public Spaces
• Scenic Views
• Security Integration
• Sheltered Outdoor Spaces
• Retail and Entertainment Spaces:
• Digital Integration
26. LIVE PROJECT
• Cochin holds great potential as a cruise tourism destination, strategically located along international
maritime routes and offering rich cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and diverse attractions.
• The redevelopment will significantly enhance the terminal's capacity and amenities, attracting more cruise
lines and passengers, leading to a substantial increase in tourist inflow and revenue generation for the city.
• project itself will create numerous jobs during construction and operation phases.
• Additionally, increased cruise traffic will stimulate the local economy through increased spending by
passengers on hotels, restaurants, shops, and tours. This will contribute to the overall economic growth and
prosperity of Cochin and its surrounding regions.
• The current terminal lacks adequate passenger amenities and efficient processing facilities, leading to
congestion and inconvenience for travelers.
• The redevelopment will address these shortcomings by expanding the terminal, streamlining immigration
and customs procedures, and introducing modern passenger facilities like waiting areas, retail outlets, and
entertainment options.
• This will significantly improve the travel experience for passengers, enhancing Cochin's image as a world-
class tourist destination.
